I think Gerhart will be fine. I still expect to grab a back like Bishop Sankey in the round 4 range. There will be a lot of value at that position early in day 3.
Quote:I don't think he is an every down back.This is how I feel. I like Gerhart I just dont think hes an everydown RB. We need another RB to pair with Gerhart.
Quote:This is how I feel. I like Gerhart I just dont think hes an everydown RB. We need another RB to pair with Gerhart.You have no reason to think he can't handle the load, he's never been given the oppurtunity because of Adrian Peterson.
Quote:I still think Robinson makes an impact this year.. He can't really do worse.This. He can leap frog Todman. Going off skill and what he could become. Not as high on Todman as everyone else is. Just think. Gerhart, Mason & D Rob
Quote:You have no reason to think he can't handle the load, he's never been given the oppurtunity because of Adrian Peterson.True. Time will tell and I hope you are right. For now Im not expecting much. l would like to see another good RB added. Draft or FA.

Quote:I have a lot of reasons to think he won't be an every down back.
1) He's white. That already has him going against all odds.
2) He runs upright
3) We don't have a line to open holes like the Vikes (whose opponents were beaten down by AP)
Perhaps you don't like #1 above but it's true. Name me a white RB that was productive that carried the load for 3+ years in a row. Once you name that RB, let me know if you would be satisfied with Gerhart producing those numbers.
Quote:I have a lot of reasons to think he won't be an every down back.I agree with the bolded. Our Oline is a work in progress. See last year. And seeing how its basickly the same line and Chad Henne is still our QB i wouldnt expect huge numbers from him.

best 3 consecutive years
Allstott --> 3 years 665 - 846 - 949 yards
Hillis -> 1,177 -- 587 - 309 yards

Quote:I'd gladly take John Riggins last three years. All as a Runningback. His last year not so much, but the two previous years? 24 and 14 Rushing touchdowns. 1347 and 1239 yards. 8 Touchdowns in that final year is nice too.
Quote:Our line is basically the same as last year?

Quote:HA !! Yes, you had to go back 25 years and put the white RB that played behind arguably the best offensive line in the history of the NFL. (Bostic, Grimm, Jacoby, May, Starke) THE HOGS !!
Quote:HA !! I still named someone when you implied that it couldn't be done.
Quote:Apparently, our OLine is equivalent to the Redskins HOGS since Gerhart is going to be the next Riggins.
Quote:Novelty. Good for a year. He'll get beaten down like Hillis. You can't run upright and be an every down back.
Quote:I don't know about "novelty"...but I do agree that his upright style is really going to leave him at a greater risk of injury. I would like to also add someone like a Bryce Brown as the RB2, which would be great insurance as well as being a pretty good playmaker from the position himself
Quote:Think he'll be trade bait or cut given the signing of Sproles?
