Quote:I get your point but stats do not lie. I'm just stating historical facts. I like your perspective above .... it give me hope that Steve Nash is going to win the dunk contest.

SMH....
Quote:Csonka wasn't bad... But dang. Hope we don't draft Teddy. A black QB and white RB! Dooooomed!!
I sincerely hope your post is meant for humor (whatever that is) and that you are just kidding about your comments. If not, I'd love to see a black guy be sitting on your motorcycle. Most Jag fans don't care if their RB is green as long as he contributes and is successful... it matters NOT what color he is. To even say such a statement is A: not close to being funny and B: ridiculous in its conception.
Quote:I don't get this. He blocks well, has shown to be durable and can catch the ball out of the back field. He does exactly what you want in an every down back. Now we will just have to see if he can run effectively as one.
Time will tell. Im also not sold on what's behind Gerhart either. IMO Our group would look better with another RB. And Todman or D Rob as the 3rd back.

This board had many debates when Garrard and Leftwich were QBs. It was sarcasm going back to them days.

Chill out and get off your racism high horse.

You don't have to worry that " a black guy be sitting on my motorcycle" . Members who have been here for a while figured out the sarcasm.

I wish to thank you and your ego for setting me straight. I just knew that you would use the "hey, I've been here a long while card. However, I did notice another "seasoned member" came up with the same analygy as to WHY race had to come into the conversation at all, but I'm sure your humor approach got the results you intended and is duly noted.

All I'm saying is he has the qualities you look for in a 3 down back. Protect QB, size/durability and can catch out of the back field. Now he can has all those things and not be an effective runner or as effective as he has been with more carries. That we don't know. But he certainly has all the tools to be a 3 down back.
LT just ranked his top 5 rb to switch teams he had Gerhart was number 1
MJD was 4 and Jennings was 5
All I know is that until we have a QB that strikes enough fear into an opposing defense that causes them to not stack the box, we can continue to look forward to our usual pedestrian 3 yards per carry with an occasional "wow, he got ten!"

This... Henne ain't scaring nobody but fans with his play. Never no when a pick is comming.

But Gabbert was in 2011 when MJD led the league in rushing? Don't get me wrong MJD in 2011 was unstopable, but come on..

I thought his sarcasm was pretty obvious.

Thing is Gabbert was a rookie then with no WRs. So we didn't know how he would play on a weekly basis. At least you could watch the game like hey the rookie might play well this week. With Henne no. Expect the worse and hope for the best.

Lighten up, Francis.
Quote:I think he could be had with any one of our three 5th rounders.

The Eagles won't keep 4 RB on the active roster, and Polk is going nowhere as he was drafted by Kelly last year.

Wouldn't it be best to wait until he's cut then?

Possibly, but you risk losing him to another team at that point. Throwing the Eagles a 5th or 6th rounder in exchange for Brown is crumbs.

I agree here. Brown is a young up and coming player. A 6th for Brown is better than drafting a rookie there in my opinion.
At first I was going to say that I did not think he was going to shock anyone.  Then I read some of the comments here and maybe my first assesment was wrong.  Toby was the backup to the best running back in the NFL but he has seen significant playing time in seasons where AP was injured.  He was effective as a runner when he got the chance in spite of the fact that he nobody considered his QB a threat.

I don't think he will average 4.7 yards per carry as the every down back here but he will probably do much better than Mojo would have due to having fresher legs.  In order to keep Mojo we would have had to pay him more than we are paying Gerhart or at least about the same.  Of all the FA backs Gerhart was almost certainly the best available.

I'm looking forward to see what he can do for us.

Quote:Novelty. Good for a year. He'll get beaten down like Hillis. You can't run upright and be an every down back.

I thought about this for awhile, the most upright running back I can think of is Eric Dickerson. A two by four with legs, and a set of bug eyed goggles.

Lol.. nobody feared Gabbert after his first couple of games.
