Quote:How is Gerhart in pass protection and pass catching?   Anyone know?

I thought D6 posted that he's excellent at both.
I agree with Prisco on this one...why pay a free agent RB more money when you can get a capable one in the draft for dirt cheap.  I will give Caldwell the benefit of the doubt though...we do have to spend some money somewhere.

Because there is no guarantee that the rookie your draft is adept at receiving passes or good in pass pro.

That last one is vital to your QB's well being.
Quote:Chris Polk was an UDRFA in 2012 when Andy Reid was still the Head Coach.

There's nothing to indicate that Chip Kelly and his staff consider Chris Polk a better # 2 RB than Bryce Brown.  Both have the ability to provide good depth.  Why change a position of strength into one in which could be problematic if an injury to L. McCoy occurs?

Someone just got put on front street.
Quote:1300 yards rushing is career, not single-season.

This is Fisch needing a fat back to block for his run and shoot offense. He's not coming here to be a feature back. This is going to look pretty comical next season.

Maurice is gone, BTW.

Aw how adorable! Are you mad at the little old jaguars? Do you need a napkin? It's ok kid everything will be alright
I like Gerhart. Another solid signing for you. If he's your #1 RB, it will be interesting to see how he can handle bigger workload and the fact, defenses will prepare to stop him (at least until you get a good QB). I still wish you draft Sankey, but you probably have other needs than drafting a RB in early 2nd round (I doubt he's there in 3rd).

I was thinking Storm Johnson with one of our 3 5th round picks

Good call. I didn't even know he has declared for draft. Didn't watch him much, but I like him in Fiesta bowl.

It's hard to project running backs, but there are some interesting prospects in mid rounds for sure.

Quote:LOVE this deal. Gerhart is so under rated. Great power and vision. Compliments DRob perfectly.
by compliments DRob do you mean he will hold on to the ball?

I have a friend that plays at SMU and they played UCF this year. Said he's the fastest, most explosive player he has ever seen in person.
Quote:Gerhart really fits a ZBS perfectly. He doesn't really like to do extra moves. He makes 1 decisive cut and heads north, lowers his shoulder and always falls forward.
anyone think they might use him at Full back at all?
Greg Jones 2.0.  Big, slow straight ahead runner with no wiggle.  Waste cap space.  You can find those in the draft.

Quote:I see we lowered the age limit to join this forum??? Men/women are supposed to be able to discuss and debate things without resorting to childishness. Lol. I guess not got you huh? Good job being an adult :-)

You didn't debate or discuss anything. You've stated you don't like this pick or any of our picks and we are wasting all of our money. Yet you didn't explain why in any of your posts. At least articulate why the free agents are terrible adds. I just love irony.

Idk who the mods are but whoever you are.. Please just get rid of this buffoon already it's actually really annoying that a boy can come on here and just spew nonsense all day long with no accountability
I liked him out of college. Thought he could be a starter. Think he'll show that here. I'm calling  800-1,000 yards and 4-8 TDs.

How is this nonsense, when it is a accurate observation of Gerhart.
Improved greatly from college. Had little lateral quickness and down field speed

I am very please he acquired both, runs with tremendous leverage

He could be a feature back if he stays healthy

Not really. I see Gerhart as faster and with better hands. Jones was a true full back. Gerhart is a power running back.

edit- and its been said we have a lot of positions needing addressed, and can not use a draft pick on all of them. However, you may still see a RB taken in the later rounds or an undrafted guy.

Please somebody just do it
I hope our OLine is really good,

I guess Dave did the right thing with Monroe trade, because Jaguars couldnt afford one of the best OL in the league.

The Ravens and Monroe have officially agreed on a new deal. Ian Rapoport reported the contract is worth $37.5 million over five years
