CVS should carry only Newman's Own products. All of their post tax profits go to charity. There we go, that'll solve it.

Quote:No. They were "go to a dollar store", "they knew the risk", and continuing to call the move half hearted.

No good deed goes unpunished is the old saying. (at least by some anyhow).

Correct me if im wrong.

Dollar stores, and gas stations sell cigarettes right????  :teehee:  It's not the end of the world if CVS completely revise their retail model. Customers can go elsewhere for their cigs and unhealthy snacks.

As I said earlier in this thread, I commend CVS for making the move and will be curious to see if Walgreens follow suit ,but to those people shedding tears about their profit margins being cut after the removal of their cigarettes, the corporate team knew the risk already going in and probably already had a plan in place ie the implematation of the minute clinics.

The dollar stores and gas stations having cigarettes has absolutely nothing to do with CVS, none at all. CVS is not revising their business model based on them.

No one on this thread has shed tears about CVS losing money, they pointed out that the decision to make was probably not easy due to that. In the end, as CVS has stated, it was the right move based on where they wanted to go.

I guess you didnt read my last response to you, because you completely missed the point.

Let me try this again.

With CVS ending the sales of Tobacco and cigarette products customers who have medical prescriptions with CVS can still go to gas stations, and dollar stores if they wish to purchase the products CVS is no longer selling come October 1. CVS is revising their business model to better align with their mission which is to not conflict their pharmacy retail, with tobacco retail thus to achieve the maxium in providing pharmacy health care, they took the measures to eliminate the sales of tobacco and cigarette products.

I would imagine that this decision is not going over well with stock holders. 2 billion a year is a lot of money to lose. It's probably not very likely the move gains you any customers or allows you to make up the loss in profit elsewhere.

I read it perfectly, and replied to it.

CVS filling prescriptions for people who may go down the road for cigarettes has nothing to do with CVS. They have no control over what other companies are doing.

Agree with this.  There has to be a reason why they are doing this.  They may expect tobacco sales to continue to dip with the new products on the market.

And I never equated such.

Sure you did. You posed a question about dollar stores and gas stations selling cigarettes. You said that this wasn't the end of the world for CVS to revise their model because customers can go elsewhere for cigarettes.

The two have nothing to do with each other.

Where in my quote did I equate such?

I added solutions, not compare.

You said that CVS was doing it for health reasons. You then said that people who get scripts filled could still go to another store to get cigarettes, correct?

In the end though, CVS's decision is far from half hearted.

There is nothing about smoking that is good for you...even with moderation.

You can eat junk food and sugary drinks in moderation and it won't affect you what so ever.

And to use the "it effects me" line in the ER with no insurance...that can be used for just about EVERYTHING!

Yup, including smokes, but shame on CVS for not banning everything.

That's what I said, and there was no equating one with the other, again I simply gave additional solutions.

Again, I applaud CVS, but what is wrong with me saying their effort will be halfhearted if they dont remove the unhealthy snacks/drinks from their store?

Shame on CVS.

Nope its not Shame on CVS. Its called taking another unprecedented step.
Are we comparing cigarettes (seemingly addictive and extremely bad for you) to sweets/sodas?

Lol

what a step towards a total nanny state?
Some people can eat snacks/drinks in moderation, but the MAJORITY of obese people dont and a good chunk end up having health problems.

Those are the people who hurt taxpayers the most because their eating behaviors could have been prevented in the first place.

Damn you society you haven't banned Fried Chicken!!!! You have any idea how bad Fried Chicken is for you?
