Quote:Some people can eat snacks/drinks in moderation, but the MAJORITY of obese people dont and a good chunk end up having health problems.

Those are the people who hurt taxpayers the most because their eating behaviors could have been prevented in the first place.

Laughing I'm not going to even go down this road..............
Quote:what a step towards a total nanny state?

Nope.

How do people become obese? Lack of exercise and ????????????
Quote:Damn you society you haven't banned Fried Chicken!!!! You have any idea how bad Fried Chicken is for you?
Unbelieveable! I bet CVS starts selling Fried Chicken Flavored candy now!
Quote:I would imagine that this decision is not going over well with stock holders. 2 billion a year is a lot of money to lose. It's probably not very likely the move gains you any customers or allows you to make up the loss in profit elsewhere.

they'll double up on sodas and chips, make more fat people and sell them diabetes medicine, it's genius!

I sometimes get your points of view, but many times you just wont back off your stance event a little bit and I cant take you seriously anymore.

I had that exact meal for lunch a few weeks back.

What do you mean I wont back off my stance? We are having a discussion, and we have different POV's. You know this by now and its no surprise or gimmick. I have direct conversations and im not afraid to admit if im wrong.

You cant take me seriously? what is this high school? knock if off man, we are having a discussion and just have simple disagreements.

You are comparing cigarettes to a soda....no, I can not take you seriously.

You like to rile people up.  You remind me of TMD in a lot of ways.
If all the stores would stop selling booze we would still have Blackmon playing? If all the drug dealers would quit peddling dope PSHoffman would not have been found dead with a syringe in his arm?  Simply put, it is a retailers choice to sell what they desire, it is individuals choice to use those products or not or shop there or not. I personally think it is not a smart move for a business that operates for profit.

While I do agree, a pharmacy taking this step is a good move.

Worst part about people buying cigarettes is how long it takes people to find them.  There are so many brands the person running the counter has to guess 5 times before they get it right.

I just told your big brother I was giving solutions, you can go back through this thread and read all that.

Am I supposed to feel insulted that you dont take me seriously? Again, this is a message board for goodness sake.

So having a different opinion is "riling people up" now?

Diesel, you need to relax brother seriously, relax man.
JFC, you're making a weak argument. Most people can drink a Pepsi or eat a Snickers with little to no effect on their overall health. You cannot say the same of even a single cigarette.

Nobody is crying for CVS, they will continue to grow and prosper.

Quote:Well CVS is losing 2 billion dollars profit.  To call that half-hearted is a bit ridiculous.  That's a lot of money. Even for a corporation.
It's an understandable mistake, but it's 2 bil in rev not profit.

CVS (common stock) is made up of two combined companies CVS (retail drugstores) and Caremark (a pharmacy benefits manager). In 2013, about $76 bil in REV came from Caremark w/ $65.5 bil from the retail drugstores. The retail drugstores will lose $2Bil in REVENUE not profit. Actually, the estimate is 1.5 bil in lost tobacco sales and .5 bil in lost ancillary sales (food items, lipstick...)to tobacco buyers.

I haven't made the comparison before with TMD, but I see it.

I have pointed out before though what is being observed now. There's a pattern.

I wonder what the revenue is on a pack of cigarettes.

It's not the first time.

I remember we used to buy a carton of Marbols for about $36-$38 but would sell them for around $55-$56 (remember this is going back 5-6 years) I know the prices have gone up but I imagine the margins are about the same. somewhere around $2 a pack in profit.
