Quote:LOL, "improved each year"??.....

don't most if not all QB prospects not named Gabbert do this over their collegiate career???

No.
The more people declare, the better.  Especially for a guy like Bortles and Manziel, because yes, it does increase value of the top picks.

Whoever we pick, I just hope he's the guy.  He NEEDS to be our guy.

Bortles has declared to enter the NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.

Quote:Tell me what you like about him, please.
elite eye level, pocket movement, and escapability. Great at delivering when being/about to be hit. Good accuracy in short to intermediate range but at times its shaky when he doesnt have proper mechanics. Makes quick decisions most of the time. Can hit deep passes but its not a strength.

Negs: As mentioned before he is inaccurate at times, but not too frequently were im bery concerned. Arm is verryyy meh. Little weaker than Ryan but still passes the threshold. I havent seen him put 20 yard outs on a rope though. Sometimes he plans where he wants to throw it presnap and makes bad decisions when its covered.
Sad that Blake won't be back at UCF next year, but thrilled that the Jags have a shot at him. Get 'em Caldwell!

Something is up with this. His arm seemed stronger last year and at times he throws with plenty of zip. I think he just needs to either tweak his throwing motion or get more comfortable throwing how he does now.
Or maybe he has a noodle of an arm.  I personally wouldn't draft a guy in the top 5 that has arm strength as a question mark.

Well, he doesn't.

Its not a question mark, like I said its adequate. Its just not a strength. If you look at the upper echelon of QBs in the NFL though they all have better arms then him for what its worth..

Edit: Philip Rivers would be a good comparison for his arm.

Quote:He's extremely strong mechanically, typically makes good decisions, seems to have the clutch gene and is extremely physically gifted.

His style of play reminds me of a larger Drew Brees.
I'll have to do my homework on bortle but I'll take manziel or bridgewater

He is a fierce competitor, and all of his mechanics are very solid. He has good arm strength, but not necessarily a “gun” that you might expect from a QB at the top of the draft..

That doesn't make sense.  Philip Rivers has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and is elite throwing deep.  I always thought that was one of his main attributes.

Agree.  Perhaps he's thinking Brees.

He's a much better athlete than Brees though.
There's no Andrew Luck in this draft.  2014 QB class sucks

Yeah, Rivers has a cannon.  I have no idea what he's talking about.

And Bortles has a very accurate deep ball as evidenced by his 20+ yard completion percentage in the 60s.

His arm is on par with Matt Ryan's.

Throwing far does not equal arm strength, Rivers arm is above average. Cannon is reserved for the staffords, cutlers, and rodgers.

Arm strength is the ability to put high velocity on the ball.

Bortles can't throw a tight spiral or with NFL velocity.  He is a very average College QB and will suck in the NFL.  I have a feeling his stock will plummet after the combine and his pro day when he runs a 4.8 40 and misses numerous throws while displaying poor arm strength.

Rivers has a cannon.  He throws farther and with more velocity than Rodgers.  His arm is stronger in every which way you slice it than Rodgers.  Cutler and Stafford have probably the 2 best arms amongst relevant quarterbacks in football.  Vick in his prime as well.
