If we get Bortles or Manziel, they might need to sit a while.....possibly the whole year.....and I would be okay with that......it's about 2015 and 2016. Teddy, on the other hand would probably be ready day 1......not sure but maybe.

You dont sit top 5 picks anymore. Its more valuable to get them experience. The concept of you can "ruin" prospects by playing them early is false. They just stink and would stink if they sat a year too.

I just remember throwing Gabbert to the wolves. It was clear that he wasn't ready and he lost whatever confidence he had. It's all about setting him up for success. Gus will know when it's time.

Not gonna happen.  Either guy would be a Day One starter, barring injury.

Gabbert had unusual circumstances around him, too. He was drafted in a year with no offseason program and a shortened training camp. In addition he was probably the least NFL ready guy in his draft in a lot of ways.

I'd normally expect anyone drafted top 10 to be ready to start from day one. I won't expect success, but I'd expect they're ready.

So if Gabbert sat for a year he would have panned out?
I think Gabbert's development or confidence issue was that he got put behind a line that could not protect him, and he got hit often, hard and quickly. I don't think him sitting out a year or not was the issue.

IIRC Lockout didn't help, though Gabbert was going to fail regardless. It's difficult to state anything positive about Gabbert. I suppose he had a strong arm, but no clue how to wield it...
Cam Newton was in the same situation and was asked to do just as much, if not more than Gabbert, and he turned out into a good QB.

I suppose it's possible......but we'll never know now. If pressed, I am skeptical.

Probably not, but it couldn't have hurt his chances any.
Just checked out the Walter Football database. 7 mocks came out today. 3 of them have Bortles going to us. 2 have us getting Carr.

1 Bridgewater......the other 1, Manziel. Clowney falling out of the top 5 in 3 of them. I really wonder if these guys know any more than anybody else......even us guys....lol.
If your qb gets ruined by starting too soon then you got the wrong guy.

History says no.  That's an awful site.

Dane officially has Bortles #1 to the Texans in his latest CBS mock. Lettucepray

That would make me sad.

Agree.  Most of the time they make even our Usual Suspects seem like rocket surgeons.
