Quote:Smart. I don't have a problem with that...
I mentioned this a month ago, but I think it would also be a good idea to bring him in as head Coach with the understanding that he'd be grooming his replacement as he transitions to more of a Front Office type of position.
I think that would be ideal.
I strongly agree with this.
Not saying it wont happen but LaCinfora doesnt know [BLEEP]

Even the sun shines on a dog's rear every now and then... Let's hope this is one of those situations.
Quote:What?
1. Owner who is both patient and willing to spend money
2. Mark Lamping
3. Caldwell who makes sound decisions and chases hard after the best players available
4. Bortles who's shown he has the raw tools to be very good
5. Very young roster with a significant amount of raw talent
6. Florida weather and taxes
Cons
1. The Gus Funk
Hard sell? Please.
If 3, 4, and 5 were actually true we wouldn't be looking for a head coach.
Dave has been below average. Blake has been awful, a little below average, and then awful again in his 3 years. And the 'very young roster' has about 8 guys you want to build around going forward, and that's including Beachum and Malik who are not very young.
Coughlin as a Director of Football Operations, yes please.
Coughlin as head coach is a pass for me.
Hey Tom,
make the jags average again!!

BBINT has the raw tools???
I mean, what does that even mean? He has an arm and legs and a head? LOL.
BBINT's throwing motion is an assault on the senses.

Even for a couple years?

The Jacksonville HC job will be a tough sell, no matter how you look at it.
Questions about whether Caldwell will remain. Bortles regression. We're not in a position to turn away a two-time Super Bowl champion.
I disagree...I think a coaching candidate would LOVE to be "
THE ONE" who turned the franchise around... "the coach" who took a team from decade of losing to the playoffs would be hailed as a premier coach for the rest of his career and get top pay no matter where he went...

Average would be a HUGE upgrade..
This was mentioned earlier this year. It's not surprising and quite honestly this is great news for this city, franchise and fan base if indeed true. I don't care if TC is only here from 2017 - 2019. He has two superbowl rings to flash. He has the title of being apart of the most successful expansion team in NFL history when he built the Jaguars into a household name in the 1990's. We desperately need a winning tradition instilled here again. And he's the right man for the job. Let him come in, fix the offense, discipline the team in general and show these young players what it takes to win. And when he's ready to ride off into the sunset he can tap his OC, DC, STC or AHC on the shoulder and tell him to keep it going for us.
Quote:If the team doesn't win next year, regardless of who's the coach, Caldwell will be on the hot seat. The next head coach has to consider that. Jax has endured almost a decade of non-winning seasons. The pressure to win right away will be enormous.
Says who? Khan's kept Gus for 4 years, you really think he's gonna pull a quick trigger on Caldwell when by all accounts (but here) he's doing a great job acquiring talent? I don't believe that for a minute.
I still think he'll end up being the head coach, but I could see him becoming the football czar once he decides he's finished with coaching in 3-4 years.
Head Coach ONLY. Would easily have this team at 9-7 next year.

BBINT's throwing motion is an assault on the senses.
It means he has the skills that can develop into a great player, but he needs a coach to put it together. That's all.

Oh bull, Gus has done nothing to develop these players, most of them were better the season before they got here including back to college. He's a pox on this roster and everyone knows it.
