I like Ivory and his skillset is pretty much the same as James.
If we are picking a back in the draft I think we need a big play guy like Ohio states Samuel. Someone who can split out wide or catch passes.

I agree. Ivory is a shell of what he was last season. I want an every down back who is a bruiser, yet has the speed to break long runs. Ivory never had the speed or athleticism to be an effective every down RB.

Samuel wasn't even the second leading runner on his own team. He had less than 100 carries. Mike Webber and J.T. Barrett led the Ohio State rushing attack. Samuel is more of a 3rd down back.

Yeah exactly. Hes a big play guy who can also play out wide. Would add another element to our offends. Doesn't have to be an every down guy.

I have been wondering what position Samuel will play in the NFL. He is very good as both a RB and a WR this season. But I never saw him as a true WR1 or RB1 because he never plays a whole game at the same position. Green Bay should be able to figure it out after putting WRs in the backfield earlier this season.

I guess it depends on what you want. I don't want a bunch of RB's who excel at one thing and then I have to keep rotating them in and out, depending on the situation. I want a main guy who is good at everything that I can depend on for every situation.

Yeldon and Ivory are perfectly fine for a productive run game if you fix the line a bit. No need to spend a high pick on a RB. Someone like Samuel would be smart in the 4th or 5th because it would add an extra dimension to our team.

Yeldon is a waste of space. He always has been. I hated the guy coming out of Alabama. He has terrible instincts, poor field vision and falls down on first contact. Personally, I would flat out cut the guy, because he hasn't helped us at all since being drafted. You could put Yeldon behind Dallas' O-Line and he'd still suck. He's just not a good RB. He's not even average. If you want to keep Ivory that's one thing, but I have no idea why anyone would have Yeldon in their future plans. The guy is a dumpster fire.

Did you ever notice Samuel is not exclusively a RB? He also spends a lot of time at WR.
Anybody have a NT they love? Montravius Adams? Tomlinson (Bama)? Loutiliue(Star L,Car NT brother)?

Had 740 yards rushing and 200 yards receiving last year in 12 games. 4.1 average. But alas he appears to have regressed, a.k.a the Bradley affect.
With a good line hes more than capable of hitting 1,000 yards. Same as Ivory if he sorts out the fumbles.

I disagree. Yeldon reminds me of Trent Richardson. The only difference is that Richardson at least had one good season in Cleveland. Yeldon hasn't even sniffed 1,000 yards in the NFL.

If he played 16 games he would have gotten 1,000 yards. Probably 300+ receiving too. That's starter material.

You can't go by "if" something would've happened. We can only go by what "did" happen. Besides, 1,000 yard rushers aren't as big a deal as what they once were. It used to be a big deal, but now even average RB's reach that goal if they get enough carries. It doesn't matter what happened in the past anyway. Here and now, Yeldon is awful and has never shown that he could be a real contributor in the run game. We could literally pull some guy off the street and he'd be almost as productive as Yeldon has been this year. If I had the power to cut just one player from this team, it would be Yeldon.

Why can't you? Its not that crazy to assume Yeldon would have reached 1,000 yards last year if he played the the full 16 games. Only 7 rushers had 1,000 yards last year actually.
He's not a home run threat but with a good line he can be a 1,000 yard rusher easy. Ivory too, as he has proven before. No need to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on a RB.

You know what they say about people who assume things. Besides, his average per carry is pathetic!

Point being we have running backs who can run for 1,000 yards and have done so before. Just need to fix the line. No need for a high RB pick.

The best rushing teams in the NFL have every down rushers. Pittsburgh, Dallas, Arizona, Tennessee and San Diego. Even the Pats offense has thrived since they quit playing musical RB's and let Blount be the lead RB. Why anybody would want to have a 2 RB system when they don't have to, is beyond me.
