Quote:This year the Pats have 1407 yards rushing and 14 TD's with 4 games left on the schedule in a one back system. What's your point?
The point is that two backs can work as well or better than one when you have the right personnel. Can't believe I'm actually spelling this out for you.

Right personnel is the key words. No one can convince me that we currently have half of that equation.

They have one third of the personnel equation in Ivory but he's been injured basically all year. The other two thirds are the line and Yeldon.  Yeldon may not be the ideal 2nd back in a 2-back attack, but he'd do pretty well behind a decent run-blocking line. He's had to evade penetration behind the line of scrimmage on so many of his runs this season it's ridiculous.

If they can upgrade RT and LG in the offseaon the current backs could do real damage. If they upgrade  those positions AND add a stud RB they'll be even more dangerous.

I'm not really sure what your point is besides you don't like Yeldon and you want the Jags to have their own Elliot or Peterson-like bell-cow back.

But  - so do fans of 26 other teams. I mean, everybody would love to have that.

I basically disagree with everything you said regarding our current RB's. What I completely agree with is when you said if we upgrade our O-Line and add a stud RB, we'd be a dangerous team. That's been my point all along. I do want the Jags to have a bell-cow RB like Elliott or Peterson. I believe we could have that too. This draft will have an immense amount of talent at that position. I see 3-4 guys who could be very, very good premier runners in the NFL and we should be in position to get one of them and upgrade the O-Line as well. What's wrong with that? I don't know why some people think this is such a bad idea? To me, by upgrading the running game as a whole, we make the offense much better. We can be more balanced, take up more time controlling the ball, we take pressure off of the QB and limit the amount of throws Bortles has to make as well. Less pressure and less throws means less mistakes in the passing game. It seems like a win-win to me.
Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame.  You want a stud guard alongside Linder to open up running lanes?  Get this guy...ASAP!

Can he pass block and what round is he supposed to go in?

He has the ability although it's not exactly a natural spot for him.  To me he is too good not to get regardless of need.  (Just my opinion though).

An example:

Search Michigan State vs Notre Dame football 2016 on youtube.

Or any Full 2016 Notre Dame game.

Full game vs Michigan state (whom has McDowell)

Nelson is #56

He is considered a first round prospect.

Completely agree. I'd love to have him on the team.

So he might fit better at RG then left for us. But I will definitely check out some tape on him.

What would be your plan to get him? Know you like him but probably not as #3 overall. So I presume you'd like for us to trade down?
I likes the RB Jamal Williams from BYU. 6'2 220 brusier but is shifty too.

Also Forrest Lamp , played left tackle for Western Kentucky I think. Didn't give up any sacks in two years.

Yep. He's my favorite NT in the draft.
If we don't go RB early, James Conner is a guy I would love to have later on in the draft.

If he can get back to being the player of 2014, before his cancer diagnosis, he'd be an absolute steal.
Don't know if we will draft a RB this year but I really like Jamal Williams the BYU running back. He's 6'1 220 , tough inside runner but still incredibly shifty and able to bounce outside.
A solid back can be selected after the 1st couple rounds. Look at Jordan Howard, Dixon and others this year. However, if Cook is there in the 2nd you have to take him.

Probably my favorite potential 3rd or later RBs I think the first 2 picks will go toward building the lines.

Kareem Hunt, Brian Hill, Elijah McGuire
David Njoku the Miami TE is a freak.
My boy Dan Feeney is playing Utah right now on Fox he's #67 and the RT

I've liked what I've seen. Would love for him to be our 2nd round pick if we could be so lucky.
