I wonder what the prank was that caused him to leave the team and check himself into a treatment facility.

I read it was something about them all sitting away from him at the team lunch or something

edit: for further info on situation released.
From yahoo:

According to the report, Martin left the team after his teammates played a joke on him in the team cafeteria on Monday. His teammates walked away from him when he sat down, apparently joking about him being sick, and Martin "flipped out." Via the Miami Herald, citing Glazer's report, Martin smashed a food tray on the floor of the team's lunch room, and left. He hasn't returned to the team.

Seemed harmless, and his reaction seemed irrational.

Its not irrational if he's suffering from some type of mental illness which all reports indicate may be the issue.
He has also been blasted by the national media so far this season. That can't be easy. He never should have been switched to the left side. Miami made a big mistake letting Jake Long go.

BTW, how is Long doing with the Rams?

I've never seen a working environment made better by hazing.

A convent? Definitely a convent.

Oh, and the Executive Branch.

But this seems pretty mild compared to other kinds of joking that goes on in locker rooms.

Thats what I thought when I read it too
There has to be more to the story than what has been made public. I know teammates have gone on record saying that he has been struggling with personal problems as well. Not to mention, as I said before, he has been roasted by the media all season.

I heard yesterday on NFL that the Dolphins are investigating the role Richie Incognito played in this event.

Now it makes sense.

Now Incognito has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. I've never been a fan of hazing in sports. Joking around is one thing. Shaving a kids head or taping him to a goalpost and dumping ice water on him are hazing. Bullying and hazing are similar and there's no place for either in sports.
Dolphins are the buccs next time..anyone smelling a win for them?
This is the kind of stuff that can absolutely tear apart a team. Miami has now asked the NFL to perform an objective review of the situation now that Martin has filed a grievance against the team. The filing has also led to the team suspending R. Incognito indefinitely.

What a mess this is.

Watching ESPN right now, they just showed what Incognito said to Martin in a voicemail dating back to last April, it included a racial slur and a bunch of expletives.

Incognito is 100% trash and this whole situation also reeks of terrible leadership (i.e. Philbin is a horrible head coach) and has no control of his team. You don't see this sort of stuff with a Nick Saban, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick or other strong football coach

Philbin is Kotite-ean.

I actually think Philbin has done an admirable job since becoming head coach. The Dolphins are not a bad team.

Riley Cooper was involved in a racial controversy this year.  I'm sure there were some locker room repercussions we never heard about.

Does that make Chip Kelly someow other than a strong football coach?

Please don't try to attribute this to the head coach. The HC can not stop every single thing that his players do. Not to mention that nothing has come out about if this incident is isolated and if anybody else knew it was happening.
