Quote:Yes, we finally agree!  Oh, wait, no we don't fully.  They see Joeckel as a better talent at LT and weren't going to pay Monroe the LT money other teams are willing to pay just to play RT next year.

....yes, they weren't willing to pay Monroe that kind of money to play ORT because he simply isn't a good fit to play that position. They can draft a true ORT to play the position, pay him less, and get better production.

While "cheaper" is a benefit, I guess, I don't see money being the main motivator here - its about getting the most production from the 2 Tackle positions. Joeckel > Monroe @ OLT, so he goes there, and Monroe would be even less effective at ORT than he was at OLT, so bon voyage. Granted, I still think it could have been handled better to get more of a return, but I don't see this as money dump. There was a legit football reasoning behind the move.

The very notion that the Jaguars are actually tanking the season is hilarious! This team wasn't winning a damn thing! They cant score! They're not trying to be this bad because they are this bad... OMG idiot.

Quote:Dear Mr.Khan it is more then obvious that the G.M. the coach and coordinators are in some agreement to throwing the towel in on this season and building for the future. Is it fair to the fans who wait all off season for football, to be put through this? Is this fair to the season-ticket holders who bought their tickets after last years horrible season! We as fans deserve to see quality on the field, We shouldnt see a huge turnaround in players, but still see the core players who deserve to be gone still playing, referring to the QB position..I believe in rebuilding, but not this way. YOU HAVE TO GO FORWARD NOT BACKWARDS!
Ok so you want the team to plug in a few talented players on the worst team in football and maybe get you four wins! Great we can suffer for another eight years plugging in players hoping to be 500 for a season! You may not like it but what they are doing now is building for the future at the expense of this season. It is about time!
Quote:A 3rd definitely, especially for the next year's draft. Belichick is the king of that.

with 5 total picks in the 4th and 5th rounds it could go something like this:

Best case:  Us one or two picks to move the 2nd round pick into the mid-first round and get a player who is a need (highest rated S, LB, DT, WR, RB, G, etc.).  with 3 picks left, 2 players we need, and finally trade the 4th for a third next year.  not bad.

middle case: 2 players that we really need and traded up for and an additional 3rd/4th round pick next year

worst case: 5 players that have potential to be developed, like d-rob or above average depth players.

you don't need a starter with every draft pick, you need reasonable contracted players who can produce on the field in a rotation or can be above average depth.  thats a base hit in the draft.

Quote:Oh boo hoo.

I anxiously await your next whiny post.
ummm ok, whose whining.. you guys so use to losing it doesnt even matter no more. Smh.
Quote:After we win this week, and the line preforms better, what will you whine about next week.
I dont think its whining wanting to win, or wanting Gabbert fired! And thats" perform" by the way. Ill be happy IF we win this week.
I'd love to see a win, and I don't think it will endanger the #1 pick if we win  3 games.

Not so sure about that...

I don't want to see a win until theres some cushion between us and the next team above us for the draft order....

Yea actually i do want then to bring in some TALENTED players! And get rid of Henne and Gabbert! Its more then obvious by keeping them bums they wanted to tank the season. You guys just in love with Bridgewater so much yall dont even care about winning. And what if he dont pan out? Smh..

I'm not really sure why its whiny for someone to have this opinion.

I'm ok if we dont do well this season so we can secure a really good pick and possibly a franchise qb, but to tell people they are whining because our team has absolutely SUCKED this year and in recent memory is ridiculous.  I pour my money into this team that could go to a lot of different things and will continue to do it because I love the Jaguars...but at some point you have to say that I am being sold a false set of goods.  I dont expect to be a Super Bowl contender year after year, but I would hope at some point we would become semi relevant.

How dare someone want to go to a game and root for the team past the first quarter!
Below mediocrity can wear anyone down...to act like they are bad fans because they are sick of it is ridiculous.

Many people seem to be content with rooting for a loser, and having the we'll get 'em next year mentality!  We've done that way too often.  I have hope this regime will turn it around, but its tiresome.

The only way you really turn it around is by getting that "special" player, and that special player needs to be at QB.

The only way this happens is if we truly bottom out during a year like this year with a strong draft/ that special QB at the top of it.

It would be counterproductive to be hoping for a few meaningless wins this season, because the only thing that would likely accomplish is keeping us right where we've been for X more number of years.

Its 12 more games....

I'm willing to endure even losing all of them, if it means getting that special once in a decade type QB in the draft.

Well, there's no way to be sure about the final record of 32 teams after 4 games.

I just don't think this team will win more than 3 games, (proabably less) and I think the other basement dweller will win at least three.

Eh.... I think the Buccaneers are in full tank mode.

Thats what I think as well.

We have to match them loss for loss. lol...

When will they start to keep track of strength of schedule for draft tiebreaking processes?

Ugh.  Yeah, they are definitely the one to watch.  I was thinking their schedule was softer than it is, but i just looked again.

At least Cleveland is looking to stay ahead of us now....

Man, I really hate having to want losses.  It really rubs me the wrong way.
Quote:The Monroe trade sacrificed both the short-term and long-term in favor of money. The quality of the team will not be improved because of this trade at any point, and that's what's dissapointing
Monroe refused to shift to right tackle on purpose.

I'm not arguing this point and I agree...for this season.  I think to get mad at a REAL fan for being upset with losing is pretty stupid though.
Quote:Monroe refused to shift to right tackle on purpose.
I would have refused as well.  the pay for a right tackle is much less than a left tackle and its not like he was under performing.  Whether anyone here will admit it or not, he was a pretty darn good football player.

I know what you mean, I don't like it either....but I think I hate long term mediocrity more...

At least I feel as if we "bottom out" and lose this year then theres a decent chance we really could be "elite" long term starting in just a few years.

Tampa is a problem. Though, you said they have a tough schedule? That would actually benefit Jax should TB & Jax be tied for draft order later....

Monroe simply wouldn't have been a good fit at ORT. He's not a mauler. Theres no "refusing to shift to RT on purpose" about it.
