going 4-12 isn't going to be any less of a losing culture on the players than going 1-15 (ish)....

The only difference will be one of those records above will get us either one of the true special difference making players that we've lacked for some time....or .....its going to land us a windfall of draft choices in a trade that can be used for a quicker rebuild, & quicker errr, winning.

....and one of those records will likely leave us just on the outside looking in,,,,again.....at the true game changers of the draft and will have a greater chance of keeping the losing continuing long term.
Whose is to say that Caldwell would even draft that special player you are referring too. Remember we had the 2nd pick in last years draft!

This years draft will have 2 players at the top that are considered by many as once a decade type prospects on each side of the ball.

That wasn't the case last draft and you know it.

Hmm. I understand you guys point in wanting to lose out to get a special player. Im just saying from a pure football fans point of view id rather see the Jaguars winning instead of tanking! At least be competitive..

You're assuming here. You know what assuming means right? Yeah you can throw out all the statistics you want about the likelihood of draft order and all that, but the reality is you are encouraging LOSING!

Losing doesn't mean you get a better QB because at this point all we know is what said QB did in college, and we know college QB's are a crapshoot. We can surmise the college QB is annointed the savior but we've seen the results of that. Does Jamarcus Russell, Tim Tebow, Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Sam Bradford, Cam Newton, Josh Freeman, David Carr, Vince Young, et. al. ring a bell?

I'd much rather see us win 4 games in a row at the end of the season and build some momentum,  then pick a QB in the middle of the draft with a good size QB with a good head on his shoulders and put him on a team with a newly developed winning attitude.

Quote:Well I"m a season ticket holder from Nov. 30, 1993. This year I gave up the season ticket in exchange for single game tickets. But yeah, there are those of us who won't ever, EVER, EVER cheer for the team to lose. Losing is for losers. Give me all the statistics you want, losing is for losers.

It builds a culture of losing. Losing is contagious. There are 52 other players on the team who will be accustomed to losing.

You're correct Chiefjag. I finished my first season as HC of the Cowboys with a 1-15 season.

Got anymore examples?

I'll wait.

Seattle signed Pete Carroll. Detroit signed Calvin Johnson. Not talking championships, but much better teams now than they were (competitive/contenders). Houston Texans in some regard. I remember us beating the down most of the time while they stayed at the bottom of the division. I'll try and think of some more. Oh, 49ers, I remember when they were utterly crap, now look at them. Stayed around 2-3 wins a year, but they've turned it around. Every team goes through this. Suck it up big time, get better through the draft. It's one big cycle.

I think you missed my point.
I see effort on the defensive side, but it's hard to see anything positive from the offense with Gabbert bringing the entire team down

I guess I did lol. What was it btw?
The Jags simply lack talent.  It's not like Gus goes out and purposely calls plays designed to be ineffective, or that he's telling Blaine to go out and throw a pick six on purpose.

The roster blowup should have happened two years ago.

Why do people act like the only good players are going to be with the first two picks?  It is the first round.  Great players are found all the time throughout.  I would rather them win.  Winning helps the fan base.

Instead of this team giving out free tickets to people maybe some people would actually buy tickets if they would win every once in awhile.

Hey I'll take either Clowney or Bridge, but I wouldn't mind seeing some wins from this team.

Quote:We got three opportunities to win. Miracle upset, split the Titans, and the Browns. Pretty sure we ain't beating the Browns
Are you sure we're not beating the Brandon Weeden Browns?
Bet the Colts are totally regretting Luck now. They could have had a couple more wins that year!

Quote:I'm not really sure why its whiny for someone to have this opinion.

I'm ok if we dont do well this season so we can secure a really good pick and possibly a franchise qb, but to tell people they are whining because our team has absolutely SUCKED this year and in recent memory is ridiculous. I pour my money into this team that could go to a lot of different things and will continue to do it because I love the Jaguars...but at some point you have to say that I am being sold a false set of goods. I dont expect to be a Super Bowl contender year after year, but I would hope at some point we would become semi relevant.

How dare someone want to go to a game and root for the team past the first quarter!
If you can't understand why this is a whiny post, that's your problem. Please do tell me where we are going to find this plethora of 'talented players' during the season. You don't think maybe, that the talented players are...you know...ON TEAMS already? Great, we cut Gabbert and Henne today. What the hell is that going to buy us?

It's whining. Every post he's started has been.

I'm a season ticket holder since year one. Do I like it? No. Do I understand there's nothing they can do RIGHT NOW? Absolutely.

It's whining.

Didn't you know that there are a bunch of magical elite players available just waiting to be signed?  But our front office is too dumb!  Clearly, complaining about something that cannot change during the season is the best course of action.

heh heh, good one, Alf...
Watching Bridgewater play right now it makes me cringe to think we might win tomorrow..

Yea, I can't believe he looks so great with all that NFL talent on temples defense!

it wouldn't surprise me....Jax had a good chance to get Luck that year, but had to get those extra meaningless 2 or 3 wins....
