Quote:It doesn't matter the only way Monroe would've been here next year is if we franchise tagged him and I can tell you now we aren't using that tag on anyone anytime soon.

Sure the argument could be made that he Caldwell should've gotten more for Monroe however Monroe is in the last year of his contract, so its not like they get him for the next 5 yrs.
we traded him and paid most of his salary, franchise tag doesnt seem out of the question.

Quote:Do your own research kid. That top ten LT you're talking about has been part of a team that has won 7 lousy games out of the last 32. I simply fail to see him as a top ten anything. Not to mention he was gone in 12 more games anyway.
lol youre blaming him for our qb problems?
Quote:But, boy, if you were the GM ...
im sure you know what sarcasm is? or do you?
Quote:They don't nearly equate to being equal in value to a franchise LT. Take off those blinders please.
It is impossible to come to that conclusion when the picks have not been made. Unless you somehow see the freaking future.
Quote:If Monroe through comp only would of netted us a fourth.

Don't know where you're getting the "4th" from.

If the Jags let Monroe walk, he would have likely got one of the biggest offseason contracts in free agency. Compensatory pick judgment is determined largely by the amount of money the free agent signs for.

Had the Jags only signed cheap/ short term free agents themselves, they could have garnered as much as 2 third round compensatory picks for Monroe.

The more expensive free agent that Jax signed in the offseason, would have netted the compensation less, however.

Did I mention the Qb? you are dense man.
The two fifth can be moved up to fourth or same with fourth to third. So yes more picks help. Plus we have no depth. Seattle third stringers are better then our backups.
Quote:I'm sure the Patriots are stupid enough to trade for an injured Marcedes Lewis.  Yup.

Well, we were stupid enough to give him a GIANT $$$ long term contract, so......stranger things have happened...

With what proof? They are 2-20 in two years with Monroe. Who protects the blind side of the QB. With the highest sack total of the whole Nfl. This nets two third round picks how?

Please. If I offered you a five and a ten dollar scratch off in exchange for 1000 cash, you would turn it down in an instant, as that is a rational decision. The odds are similar to finding a franchise left tackle in the forth or fifth round. Granted I like the job Dave did with this draft, he reached for his ankles and got worked like a true rookie GM.
Since when is a guy who helped contribute to over 80 sacks in two years and went 2-20 a Franchise Lt?

Learn how to quote properly....

and 2, I just explained to you how the compensation process works. You ignored it, and went onto some rant about the Jags being 2-20 and giving up a bunch of sacks...ignorant on several levels as the sacks largely didn't come from Monroe's area, and record is irrelevant as I told you that the compensation is tied to the contract Monroe signs (minus Jags free agent money signed)

Man you are reaching, you comparing lotto tickets to NFL draft picks?

In 12 games we were not getting anything!!

Why is this hard for you to understand, long odds are better than no odds, are you people really this dense?
Quote:Did I mention the Qb? you are dense man.
well youre using our record to downplay monroe's talent, whereas our record would indicate, im sure a lot of people believe, is due to our poor qb play and for last season our subpar defense.

Yes, and we probably plan on signing a few.  Hopefully Alex Mack, and a few others specifically at G.  Which will do us more good in the long run.  I'm not happy with the compensation either -- I wish we had gotten at least a 3rd.  But I think sometimes we fans overestimate the value of players for picks.  You have to consider more than just talent, you have to consider age, contract, and a few other factors as well.  Given that Levi Brown was had for a conditional 7th-- and Arizona is still picking up most of the tab... I'd say that we probably are.  I'd also say that some trades are 'goodwill' trades.  Meaning that in the future when Caldwell wants to trade up -- the Ravens will remember that we gave them Monroe for a good deal, and they'll (hopefully) give us one in return.

Did Gene Smith get a GM job somewhere?  Cause that's the only way I see a team stupid enough to sign Lewis.  Besides, the Patriots have freaking' Gronk.
That is like someone sticking up for a kid bullied and getting knocked out all the time and the kid still getting tormented. And the kid saying without him I'd be toast.

An interior line as brittle as a pack of saltine crackers and a QB that literally runs right into the rush from a clean pocket.

im saying we couldve gotten better value than what we got  :whistling:

horrible argument, how many of those 80 sacks are contributed to Monroe? You want to pin the team record with player value, ok Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson must suck then, they hold no value at all!

Just a stupid of an argument as how many players could they're really be worth keeping on a 2-14 team.....ugh.....

No chance in hell we'd get a 3rd round compensatory pick let alone 2.

"The Houston Texans received the highest pick at No. 95 after losing Mario Williams, Jason Allen, Mike Brisiel and Joel Dreessen in the 2012 offseason"

They got one third and a 6th. You really think we'd get 2 thirds. Most likely we'd get a 5th.
