And the funny thing would be if Caldwell signed Monroe end of year. And still got his two picks.
Quote:Anyone ever think. Maybe Monroe wanted to be closer to his wife. And missed his family.

No.
There only in Baltimore that's all.
Quote:Anyone ever think. Maybe Monroe wanted to be closer to his wife. And missed his family.

Oh, well then hey, shucks.....I'm glad we could accommodate that wish......I mean, its not like this is the professional level of a billion dollar business or anything.....shoot, we should have just merely gave Monroe to them to fulfill his wishes, ga-heelt.
Quote:Yeah, thats a pretty good analogy, actually.

However, I do think that Joeckel will be better than Monroe at OLT, when all is said & done.

......that doesn't mean you deal Monroe for market value and be happy though

Fixed it for you
Quote:That's why wasting a 2nd overall pick on a LT when we had a LT was a head scratcher. Add to it we then trade our LT for a 4th and 5th it's more then frustrating it's down right disgusting.

I tell you guys what lets take the TOP WR next year and then trade Shorts for a 6th and 7th!

Now you're just playing dumb. I hope.

With the roster the Jags had you really have a problem with Caldwell selecting his perceived second best player in the draft? With no great QB available? Really?

And why do I think you'd be on here next spring castigating Caldwell from getting nothing for Monroe now that he's signed with someone else as a free agent.

You can be disgusted all you like but Caldwell told you what his plan is. In three years we'll know if it worked. After four games into Year One you or I have no way of knowing if it will.
Well, I suppose it would make sense for us to do that. Kind of like that Tebow trade... But then I would DEFINITELY want more than a 4th and 5th in exchange... If they wanted to clear some salary for him they should have sent us a player who's contract could work with that back.

Steelers and Ravens both had limited cap space, and existing teams reworked the contracts as part of deal. Monroe to take physical Thurs

Considering how much salary the Jags/Cards absorbed, imagine what the Bucs might have to eat on Josh Freeman's deal if he's dealt for picks

Bottom line is BAL and PIT each get their new tackles, Monroe and Brown, for $547K (prorated $715); AZ pays about $3M, Jags pay about $2.4M

Yeah, that would be funny.

The funnier thing though is that there probably really are people on this thread/ and others that honestly believe that will happen. Laughing

He's signing a long term deal with the team he was just traded to. (barring unforeseen injury)

WR's are a dime a dozen.

I don't necessarily disagree with you -- I groaned when we picked Joeckel.

But one thing to remember -- regarding the whole 'franchise tag' thing. Caldwell was probably expecting us to need to resign Maurice-Jones Drew next year. Save money for MJD by replacing the LT. Unfortunately MJD has regressed.
Not if he don't prove his worth he won't.

Not this shades of Gene Smith receivers a dime a dozen again.
Quote:Since when are we paying for Eugene's remaining salary this season?

You keep repeating this as fact. Your usual tactics but still just opinion.

If Caldwell was thinking that then he's even dumber than I thought.

There should have been zero consideration for "re-signing" MoJo next year.....he's a RB and one who plays a physical style and is approaching 30 years old....only STUPID GM's do stuff like that.

I don't think that WR's are a dime a dozen like they used to be. The three most expensive contracts signed this last offseason were WRs. The biggest trade of the offseason was a WR.

Your acting like it was Joeckel or bust with the 2nd pick. There was plenty of options Ansah, Star, Jordan to name a few..........All at a position of huge need.

instead we have the brilliant idea to upgrade one of maybe 4 position we had top 10 talent at. then we butcher moving the player he's replacing, yea it's frustrating.

Thank you.
If Baltimore would not even pay his whole remaining salary. Then why would they sign him long term?

Because I understand what I am seeing in the moves that are being made.

I guess you and a few others do not.
