I am guessing Cleveland is really trying to stockpile draft choices this year, in the effort to get "their" QB. I am thinking they have their eye on Bridgewater since their current regime prefers a QB with ability to connect downfield routinely.
Should the Jags be countering this with by shopping Cecil? He's the same NFL experience i.e. 2 years, and is probably similar to Gordon in ability, if not a bit less.
If the Jags miss out on Bridgewater because of all the Cleveland stockpiling of draft choices, will it have been worth it to not have tried to stockpile our own draft choices? Our team is probably in worse roster shape than Clevelands is, and Cleveland apparently has no problem still trading young players away.
Why do we hold onto ours like they are gold or something, despite our team sucking for years??
We never seem to stockpile draft choices and instead always play it safe and steady and all we do is never improve.
NO -- CS3 was the only good thing Gene Smith did and the only time on this board that I was wrong.
KEEP HIM !!!!
That makes no sense at all to me, the idea is to improve the roster with young talent. Why would we trade one of the only young talents we have on the team?
We're probably going to end up with the 1st pick anyways, so we have the choice take all of Cleveland stockpiled picks (fine with me) or take the player of our choosing (also fine with me)
This would actually be a good time to lock up CS3 to a midsize contract while we are under cap and his market value is mediocre.
TMD, I think you're underestimating how bad our team is -- we will get the number one pick.
Then, instead of trading away one of our best players, we keep Shorts and pair him with Blackmon so Teddy will have another reliable target to throw to, which will help him progress.
No point of giving Shorts away when we're going to have top-pick regardless.
Don't we have two 2nd rounders plus a late rounder from Seattle next year? I'd like to keep him and se what he can do with a better QB.
This board sure is "trade-happy" lately. Desperate times, desperate measures I guess...
The browns are shopping gordon because hes a mess up from being suspended for the year just like blackmon. Now if blackmon comes back and lights it up, that would make sense to trade him because hes kind of the same situation as gordon

Cleveland is doing the exact same thing with Gordon. He's basically Shorts' twin in all aspects. So why does this Cleveland shopping Gordon seem ok to everyone.....thats the vibe I get anyway

I think we only have an extra 5th from the mike thomas trade with detroit

2 2nd rounders?? whered the other one come from?
Let's create more holes by trading away one of the few good players on this team because that'll solve everything.

Gordon is the league dog house, shorts has been nothing but a model citizen thats the difference. Cleveland is trying to sell high

If we beat Cleveland, which we'll almost certainly do without them having Josh Gordon, then we'll probably finish below them in draft order.

Cleveland seems to be fine with the concept....
I'm not advocating it one way or the other, but am also OPEN to possibilities, unlike some on here who never ever seem to be willing to trade our players until their value is completely gone by waiting to long to trade them in the first place. No guts no glory.

we are going to almost certainly beat cleveland - NICE

I still think the Browns will squeeze out four wins this year. They're gonna steal a couple games at the end of the season, and beat us in their house.
We'll win three games and lock up that top pick.

I could see the Jags and Cleveland both finishing close to 3-13 and that Jags/ Cleveland game being the deciding factor to who gets Teddy Bridgewater.

Dude... we are bad. Clevelands defense is too good. We won't be able to score on them.
Unless Tampa continues to lose, #1 is ours.

If Cleveland dismisses Josh Gordon, they won't be scoring many points either. Jordan Cameron will be the only legit receiving weapon and will be blanketed.
Tampa is a serious threat too. Freeman sucks and that whole regime will be fired.
