Serious question. I think we should try and bring in someone like Romo, Garrapplo etc. I dont think this team can afford going the rookie starting right away route. I dont think Blake is the answer. Let him earn the job next season.
Good god no to Romo but they need to do something and fast whether it's Bortles, a rookie, or a backup from another team before our young players leave for a good team. I know we don't have to worry about anyone this year, but we will next year.
Draft a guy in the 4th, 5th or 6th round to compete with Bortles and Allen in camp and get a real bonafide QB guru on the new staff at coordinator or QB coach.
I would definitely draft a QB in the first 3 rounds.
I would be in favor of drafting something like:
Round 1: BAP
Round 2: Offensive Line
Round 3: QB/Offensive Line
Round 4: QB/Offensive Line
I think we need to come away with 2 new offensive linemen in the first 4 rounds as well as a QB.
In round 1 (looks like we may be drafting near the top 5 again) I would reserve that spot for an "elite prospect" regardless of position. If we have a chance at Deshaun Watson or Myles Garret for example, you draft them.
Keil gunner in the 1st round, spacecoastjag and his recruiting family like him
QB is the number 1 priority for this teams future, but we are just playing the same game we did with Bortles and Gabbert if we don't build the best offensive line we can before we draft one.
It's bad right now, real bad. Bortles isn't the guy but he's going to be here next year and he's probably going to be starting. Might as well let him take the beatings while we get the oline straight. It's what we've been doing for 3 years anyway so what the hell.

I think the answer to your question will to a large extent depend on what transpires with both the Jaguars G.M. position and HC position.
If the current team brass remain ( I don't expect Gus Bradley to keep his job but then again he's lasted than I already thought he would ), the most that will change in terms of QBs is probably a 3rd or 4th Round QB will be added. The greater the off-season front office and coaching situation changes in Jax, the more likely the team will take a QB in the first 2 Rounds or bring in a veteran who is capable of leading the team to a winning record if he becomes the starter.
It really all depends on if Dave gets fired or not and who the next HC is
If Dave is fired id say its a good chance blake is gone. If he isnt id say he gets another year because i doubt dave will want to take the loss on bortles but Its also going to hurt the head coaching search trying to force Blake onto someone. I dont really want to draft a QB from this upcoming class i just dont like any of them yet.
Romo purely as a player could bring us to the playoffs straight up, but his health is a planet sized question and i dont want to see this guy paralyzed over football. And if the cowboys cut him would he even want to come here, or play football anymore at all? I doubt it.

I like bringing in the veteran option. Its time to do away with Henne.

Related to what you mentioned regarding Tony Romo, I agree that his health is a major, major issue. Yet, because a number of teams desperately need upgrades at QB ( 49ers and Jets jump out immediately ), I think the Cowboys will be able to get trade compensation for him. Maybe as high as the equivalent of a 2nd Round pick.
A vet backup level guy will just turn us into the jacksonvile jets starring Free Agentrick, Geno bortles, and Branden Petty
Also Jimmy Garrapolo sucks might as well leave his name out of things

Though I believe Chad Henne has served his purpose with the Jaguars, I think the chances of the team bringing in a higher end veteran QB next year are increasing by the week.
I think Bortles is here next year regardless, most likely to start the season at least. Henne I think is gone regardless.

No way to a 2nd round pick for a 37 year old who hasnt played a full since what, 2014? with that contract?
And im pretty sure a trade would screw up their cap, but a cut before june 1st(?) would save them a lot and is doable. But i could be wrong on this someone can fact check this.
work on fixing bortles. That's my suggestion. I like him, but he needs to spend quality getting better at mechanics. He's too young, and has the potential to be great, had the stats/passed eye test last year.
Id draft a qb in the 2nd round. Maybe shop a pick for a veteran in the offseason

If you're bringing Garoppolo, it's going to be to start since it'll cost you some good draft picks.
Anyways, it's most likely going to be Bortles next season.

Veteran option like who? Theres no veteran available that can do anything more than what we have. Maybe we win a few more regular season games but it ends up wasting the time of all of our young players before they have to get paid either here or somewhere else.
