One of the announcers mentioned that Blake said "I am not a natural passer" in regards to constantly working on his mechanics.. I have never heard this before, maybe it's common knowledge, but it made me do a double take. The team picked a guy at the top of the draft who actually has admitted he is not a natural passer? Seems kind of strange. Like picking a RB to lead the team who is not a natural runner.
Quote:Funny man here. No tebow could not throw at all. Not even close. I watched one game tebow was off the mark 99 out of 103 times.
What are you, spacecoast jag in disguise?

I think he comes across more as JDub almost.

Who needs him to admit it besides people that are blind?

Nobody needs him to admit it, but have you ever heard a professional QB come clean and say it? I have not.
Do you think he made that statement when he had his interviews pre-draft?
A franchise NFL QB is the elite of the elite and every last one of them has to be a natural passer. The Tebows do not work out. There is no time to work on their skills. This is not an internship.
This is not a golf swing to be tweaked. So How did the team draft a man who believes in his heart he is not a natural passer and must constantly work on it? Was the team deceived? If a QB does not have an arrogance that they can put the ball anywhere, they will struggle their entire career in this league. I thought Blake had that arrogance and confidence in his skills. I guess everyone did since he was drafted so high to be a franchise QB. Now that we know that Blake himself has admitted he is not a natural passer its time to move on. This really should have been detected in the selection process.
That statement explains why he is an interception machine. He is constantly tweaking his throwing, well too late for that. We need a natural passer that believes in himself.
So when a running back supposedly fumbles at the 1 it is the qbs fault we lose?
Not to mention the other fumble while driving.
Quote:Oh you meant like give credit for each individual good play. He had a small handful of good plays yes, but overall he was still the glaring weak link of the team (along with Parnell, though he had his worst type of physical matchup and got no help for some reason). The defense and running game were more than good enough to win today.
I wouldn't say he was the glaring weak link of the team in today's game. This team turned over the ball four times today. Bortles made just enough plays and the defense played out of their minds, and that should've been good enough. My point was Bortles has been a beleaguered QB, and while much of it is deservedly so, it seems like some want to just throw their hands up and completely give up, and ignore any signs of life from the kid. We want better than just good enough, but I think the best we can hope for with this coaching staff right now is a stop in the bleeding and some flashes.
Quote:No one is saying that. But Bortles played better then he has, and we should all want him to succeed. If he takes heat for his bad performances, then he deserves credit for the good
Sorry am I watching a different game? Blake looked terrible for most of this game.
Quote:With all due respect to those that are losing their hair, of course.
That name is killing me. He is self conscious of it because he immediately has a guy give him a hat on the sideline after removing his helmet.
Lol, the one game where Bortles stepped up and played well people here still want to bash him. That last pass wasn't that bad. The guy had good defense and the rest of the guys on the field were covered.
There were other guys on the field today that deserve much more criticism than Bortles.

Are you kidding me?
He hit a defensive back in the chest in the endzone who just happened to drop it. The next play IIRC was the touchdown to Robinson.
At the beginning of the 2nd half he had another sure pick dropped by the defensive back.
His interception was unbelievable.
So even though he did at least make some decent throws yesterday, he still did not play "well" by any means.
It's unbelievable how low the bar has been set if you think Bortles played well yesterday
I can't blame this loss on Bortles. He wasn't great but he was good enough to win without the fumbles, occasional lack of effort from receivers and a couple of bad play calls.

Right. We still should've won. Games where their entire offense and some playmakers on defense are not playing need to be W's.
I agree, lowest bar of all time if Blake played well yesterday. He had a small handful of good passes, and even more very bad ones. Is that better than the last few weeks where there were quite literally next to no good passes? Yes, sure. But cmon he was still a wreck yesterday. A competent QB blows KC out yesterday the way our defense and running game were playing.

200 yards rushing. Defense holds Chiefs to 1-14 on 3rd down.... Jags lose.
Everyone before was sayin how the run game and defense are what's holding Blake back.
Blake missed numerous WIDE open players which would have resulted in big plays or TDs. Hurns drop was a dagger but let's be honest here... Blake needs to be more accurate.

That's not really the point though...
The point is 3 of our 4 turnovers were not his fault and had next to nothing aside from handing the ball off. Said turnovers are the reason we lost this game. Both RBs fumble the ball (kinda sorta) and there's also a fumble on a punt return. No one is saying Blake went Super Saiyan out there but he didn't look anywhere near as bad as he did against the Raiders nor the tacks.
Yes, he's been awful. I will be among the first to admit that but to lay this loss at his feet (which feels to be the premise of this thread) is simply disingenuous as I see it. For the first time in recent memory, he isn't even the main reason we lost this game. We lost this game for the precise reason Brklyn said: We simply have no clue how to win.

If the defensive back catches the ball that hit him in the chest, Blake would be the number 1 reason we lost the game. We would've had 0 points at halftime yet again.
Now, that didn't happen because the DB luckily dropped it, but we can't ignore such a pass. We got lucky yesterday, we will not continue to be lucky like that.
^YUP.
What's concerning is the offense is still the worst (#32 Worst) PPG scoring offense in the first 3 qtrs of a game this season.
vs Tenn:
0-0-8 points in 1st,2nd,3rd qtr
vs KC
0-7-0 points in 1st,2nd,3rd qtr
If the DB doesn't drop a ball that hit him RIGHT IN THE CHEST yesterday giving the Jags another chance at AROB's TD,, we're looking at
0-0 in the first 2 qtrs.
Bortles has GOT to get it together in the first half of games. He looked really bad in the first half yesterday. Once again, he started to look better late in the game.
