They have similar numbers of games started/games played, yards, TDs,  attempts, and completions but Kessler has a completion percentage 7 points higher and a QB rating 10 points higher.
Makes sense.
Of the various free agent and trade options available to us, this is one I’m OK with.

Let’s be fair, the free agents remaining weren’t great!

It still leaves the door open to draft another QB, but gives us something to fall back on for a couple of games if Blake went down injured.

He's not immobile.
IMO not a bad pick up. I would speculate that this allows the front office to purely focus on BAP and allowing them the freedom to not have to reach for a backup/ developmental QB, if they covet a specific one. Seems pretty much a QB on loan unless he makes the 53 (speculating that’s the condition that has to be met).
The fact it was a conditional 7th rounder means it was a free look. I'm okay with that. Kid doesn't have the greatest arm strength in the world but he protects the ball, moves the chains, and can start in a pinch. Low risk in my book.

His resume screams "protects the football."

If that's all he does, that's all you want from a designated backup.

Scratch Lamar Jackson and Mason Rudolph.

We gave up a conditional seven in 2019. A roll of gently-used toilet paper would be worth more in trade. Kessler's presence doesn't rule anyone out, just means that we've found the next Chad Henne.
Good signing for a young accurate backup level QB, for next to nothing. He allows the Jaguars more flexibility in the draft.
Here's his highlight clip.Looks decent

Dudes trash but for a 7th rounder can't complain.
Camp arm.

Drew Brees 2.0
Bortles has to feel pretty good about that trade.

Good read. Thanks for the link.
When I saw the headlines "Jags trade for Kessler", I was not happy. Then, I saw that we basically got him for free and I think it's a solid trade. He wasn't terrible with Cleveland and if we're getting a "free QB" who may or may not be on the roster by the start of the season, why not pull the trigger on the deal? He's young and could improve now that he has a better supporting cast.
For everyone that's been stomping for lauletta, we basically just got a version with NFL experience. Good move. Should be our backup for a while.
The New Case Keenum- Just in case

Thanks. He looks to throw a "prettier" ball than Blake.  3rd round pick who could definitely develop into a decent player. (See:Case Keenum)
They still need to draft one, but only if one of the top ones are still available.
I seriously expect Kessler to push BB5 to greater success. BB5 will now be looking over his shoulders knowing the possibilities of being benched if he falters to which I don't expect. I like this trade alot.

NH3...
