He's not here to replace Blake.

No kidding.  6'4" - 220 pounds -- strong arm.  bad college coaching.

heck, it's worth a shot.

Are you trying to sell me the crazy idea that QBs aren't simply birthed like Uncle Rico?

Don't sell me the idea that a grocery stockboy could ever win a Super Bowl and get inducted in the Hall of Fame with hard work and coaching.

Backup QBs with 49.5% career completion and 100:93 TD:INT don't ever persist long enough to end up Super Bowl MVPs, do they?

Tanner averge 55.2 percent in college, incuding 57.5 percent at Nebraska.

Those were Doug Williams' numbers, for reference.
I'm no big Tanner Lee guy or anything, but I do have one positive thing to say about his potential.

During the combine when they do that drill with the quick outs to the sideline, Tanner Lee and Josh Allen were the only ones that really made the throw with enough zip and accuracy to make me not think "that ball gets tipped or picked off against a good NFL corner."
He also was anticipating the receiver's break pretty well on most of those. Many of the other QBs hesitated with that.

So - the arm strength is definitely there should they be able to stash the kid on the PS (or maybe carry him on the roster) and work out the rough stuff. Major project with upside in the sixth - that's OK by me.

It's like getting a young Jay Cutler in the 6th round!
You guys are really trying very hard to find nice thing to say about the guy. I'll give you credit. You're trying.  I bet you guys would even have something nice to say about Danny Etling, if we drafted him. Wink

Dude, this is like hooking up with a chick at 2:30 am when the music dies and the cleaning people start mopping the floor.  At this point, you take what you can get and look for any positives you can find out of your selection.

Tanner Lee is like a hunchback, fat chick with stringy hair, coke bottle glasses and bad breath. I'd rather go home alone and date my hand.

There's no trying to it, it's simply stating the obvious.

It's not hard to see the obvious.  For some, it would seem.

Again, if you believed there was starter material available to us you're only fooling yourself.

This QB class was overrated in the top 6, and all else was trash.  Can we salvage a backup?  That would be the best case scenario.
There are better unsigned backups out there. Im not going to name any names. Dont want the board to explode.

But this kid aint the answer at backup. Maybe if NFL Europe were still around.
Next Tom Brady.

At the time we took Lee, there were not starting QB's available to us. That's not the point. The point is that we wasted a pick on a guy who has zero chance of being anything other than a PS player and that is a major reach. We should've gone BAP there and I GUARANTEE, Lee wasn't the BAP on the board. If he was, we need to seriously re-evaluate how we scouts QB's.

As if you have any idea.  Some of you are absolutely ridiculous.

Kessler is a better backup. Tanner Lee isn't about that. Tanner Lee is about a guy we can possibly turn into a starter by September 2020.

Can we start making a list of all your hot takes?

Barkley isn’t that good.
Lee guaranteed to be a bust.
Rudolph is elite.

What else?

Sure, but you better get them right. I never said Rudolph was elite. I said he would be better than Bortles. He's no Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, but I still believe when given the chance, he'd be significantly better than Bortles. With that said, it'll be a while before we ever find out how good he is, since he's playing behind one of the best QB's in the NFL. I don't believe Rudolph will see any regular season action for at least 3 years. Roethlisberger is still a really good QB and he's not leaving Pittsburgh anytime soon.
