How so? Wanting a QB who plays consistently well is the goal of every team. Bortles played an excellent game today, but he still has to be consistent throughout the season. Hopefully, he keeps this up and we can put the QB issue to bed for good.
So in the past 10 games he has had 7 good games and 3 bad ones. I'd say that's pretty consistent.

Good: 2017- SF Hou Seattle Indy NEx2 and Pitt
Bad- Tenn Giants Buff

I'll take it.
I wouldn't say tenn was bad, bad wr play that game against a good defense. He had the game winning td dropped by Westbrook.

Bad if say. Jets,, nyg, ari,

Buff I put on first playoff gitters, he did what he had to top win. Good teams do that.

I'm talking about the last 10 games.

He threw for 158 against Tenn in week 17. That's bad. He was bad against Buffalo and bad against the Giants. However I'm taking 7 out of 10 good to great games every year.

Lets not forget what actually happened at Jets and Ariz. The Defense was the main reason we lost. BB5 had a game winning drive for a TD against the jets just to be called back by a phantom holding call on a WR. And in arizona a game winning drive to FG range perfect pass hit Lee in the hands and he dropped it. If those two plays only went our way. BB5 would have two game winning drives and we would have ended up 12-4. yes BB5 had his moments last year that looked like the old blake but there were more where he looked new and improoved and you could see the potential of good starting to show.

That's 70%. When I was in school, that was a D. That's not consistent enough.

So you're looking for a QB to throw for 5,120 yards 48 TDs and 4 interceptions? Because if you pro-rate those 4 games to 16 games, that's what you get. This is not madden. No QB is going to do that and if you're expecting that, you're going to be disappointed from everyone.

You are going to have ups and downs through a season. Every QB has it.

“70%  good games”  puts him well ahead of a lot of NFL QBs

You can’t grade nfl QBs like a 9th grade algebra test.
RBB5 is the Jags QB no more imaging.

Look at Aaron Rodgers last 10 games which date back to 2016, because of his injury last year. His worst game was when he threw 3 INTs, but he also threw 3 TD's in that game as well. He has a so-so O-Line, no running game, excellent receivers and an average defense. Tom Brady has had 2 bad games in his last 10, but the guy is 41 years old with a bad O-Line and no receivers and no #1 RB. It can be done. Consistency is not having 2-3 good games and having 1 bad game. Consistency is having good games and average games, but only having a truly bad game, once in a blue moon. We have a good O-Line, a very good run game, really good WR's and the best defense in the NFL. This team is designed to give the QB every advantage in order to succeed. We opened the playbook this game and Bortles rose to the occasion. I just want to see him keep it up, so we can win our first Superbowl.

It is absolutely ridiculous to use Rodgers, Brady, or Brees as your benchmarks when you are comparing quarterbacks.  How often do those guys come around?  Hell...how long have all of them been in the league?
Consistency to me would simply not be praying for a defensive TD late in the 3rd to 4th quarter. Unfortunately that happened a ton last year, and it happened last week. Not punting 7 times in a row would be nice too.

Dude. What?

So now we have to compare Blake to Rodgers, Brees and Brady? That's the benchmark?

Last season Matt Ryan had a rating of under 80 4 times. Which puts him at about 75% good games and 25% bad ones. Right around Blake in his last 10.
Some people are never satisfied.

Also a lot of people had already said Blake was who he was and there was no corner to be turned. I think he essentially started "getting it" altogether late last season. I think this coach staff has done a good job actually developing Bortles.
I think he'll still have a clunker here and there... but I mean... it's a team game guys... the wide outs and OL have had their fair share of blame that they don't always get.
If Bortles gives us 9-10 games like yesterday and 4 games like last week and 2-3 bad ones, I can live with it. Because this D can make up for 2 or 3 of the other games where he or the offense as a whole may be off.
(I wouldn't count last week as a bad game either... while he had a bad INT and a couple more errant throws, his overall day wasn't terrible and he was hampered early by drops and poor OL play (Norwell and Cam mostly)

You can also probably lean toward the idea that as the offense strings together games like this they'll become more in sync and accustomed to that aggressive winning style of play.

Bortles comps should be made VS Luck, Carr, etc. Guys drafted within a couple seasons of his self. Instead of comping him to yester-years elite QBs
Obviously anyone would love a QB that could put up 10 games worth of Rodgers and Brady stuff (Well... not Brady's stuff from yesterday)

That's why the thread was entitled, "Just IMAGINE". Imagine as in, "not real." It's a fantasy. When you have a fantasy you dream about having the best. If you ever fantasize about trading in your wife or girlfriend, you don't imagine being with some average chick, you dream about someone ultra beautiful. I was imagining this team with an elite QB and when you say elite, you automatically this of Brady and Rodgers. You guys take things too seriously. Am I supposed to imagine us with a QB like Marcus Mariota? I don't think so. That certainly would not help.

And weren’t you just bemoaning our “really good” receivers just three weeks ago ??

You must be thinking of someone else. The only receiver I've complained about this season is Moncrief. I've been advocating making Cole and Westbrook our starters since last season ended. I was trying to convince people in offseason that we had good, young receivers who would only get better.
I am posting in this high quality thread!
