They canned him for Jaydon Mickens. I liked Mickens’ story when he was here and I’m glad to see him land somewhere. Hood lands somewhere too, so good feels all around.

Doesn't really move the needle, those tires are threadbare.

A Safety? I thought secondary was among our deepest positions.

CB yes, Safety - not so much.  But doubt he makes the opening roster.  Just kicking the tires to see if there is anything there.
Is Thomas Rawls expected to stick? I hope not. That guy is a scumbag.

Yes.
Unless Mays or Hood knock him off the roster this week.

Why is he a scumbag?

Why is he a scumbag?

Larceny and stealing from a 62 year old woman during his college days I think.

Controversies[edit]

Rawls was arrested in the spring of 2014 for an April 8 incident in which he and two companions were charged with stealing a 62-year-old woman's purse from a casino. His arrest led to his indefinite suspension from Central Michigan University's football team.[51] He was reinstated a week later, after accepting a plea deal and missing two games.[51] In October 2014, Rawls pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempted larceny and was sentenced to a year's probation and 104 hours of community service. He later publicly denied his guilt, declining to further elaborate.[52]

Use to steal in college. Got away with it because if people on campus didn't want to report Michigan's starting RB.

Literally tried to fist fight my sister at a pizza shop in Ann Arbor.
Good sound bite from Saban. He makes very good points.

If he played at CENTRAL Michigan, why was he in Ann Arbor? And if it were the Wolverines I'd get not wanting to report their starting RB, but tbh no one really cares all that much about the Chippewas so i have a hard time believing that a UCM player had "diplomatic immunity" in that case.

If your sister suffered any kind of harm I'm sorry as no one should have to experience that; but that said your story is a little bit unbelievable without additional context.

As far as his role here, he made a mistake in college, when I was 19 I [BLEEP] up pretty bad too .. who hasn't. He's kept his nose clean thus far and has looked pretty damn good running the ball for stretches of time in the pros. After last year we could use the depth and after Gene Smith's tenure I definitely don't want "choir boys" so long as hes not a distraction and he's staying out of trouble i could care less that people think he's a scumbag.

He used to play for Michigan before transferring to Central. He wasn't the starter for the Wolverines though.

I'd buy his story, I went to undergrad at a MAC school and even in the MAC football players get a free pass to do lots of things without actual legal repercussions.

As far as Rawls the player, IF he's 100% healthy I don't see a reason why he shouldn't get a serious look but he's had trouble staying healthy and being productive outside of his rookie season.

Most people make mistakes.  Some, like "hailtoyourvictor" dont, which is why this is a touchy subject.  You have those who get their life together after trial and error, whether young or old, and others that just come out of the womb mistake free for life.  It's a gamble that most people get the losing end of.

Well, that was five years ago before he was old enough to legally drink.
I expect they'll be signing someone today to replace Roc Thomas on the roster. Keep your eyes open.

They have to cut 30+ players in less than a week from now.
They may not bother to fill that spot.

Where did he say it was at a bar?

Those idiots get away with everything. It'd be nice if they got their [BLEEP] knocked out and dragged to the street and thrown in traffic.

Seriously... if you at ANY point in your life thought it was okay to steal from the elderly (or actually ANYONE.. rob a frigging bank losers, not people) you are forever a piece of crap. Don't care what age you are - dude.. I never would have stolen from an old person... at ANY age. [BLEEP] is wrong with society that we accept it's okay.
