Stupid take.

I'm mostly just trolling, but it is clear that Fournette is not so much better that he should be getting the workload he is. McCaffrey is really the only other RB who dominates touches like this. Even guys like Mattison and Pollard were getting touches to spell Cook and Zeke...and they're a hell of a lot better than Fournette.
Fournette is an average back. Misses cutback lanes constantly. Poor vision.

Average at worst.  Good at best.  Runs behind an average at best offensive line.  That makes offensive line a priority over running back.

Over 1,000 yards rushing.  Leads the team in receptions.  He's not bad.  We have bad players in other positions.  Why are we focusing on Fournette?

Because the thread title is called "Lets talk Fournette"?
Let's see if he can string together back to back seasons like this one. I mean, if they guy finishes his rookie contract over 1k yards in 3 of 4 seasons, that's pretty damn good IMO.

I don't get why people have this attachment to 1k yards. Sure it's a fun round number, but it's a completely arbitrary and not very impressive benchmark in and of itself. Oh 60 yards per game on a giant workload...whoo...

If you're AJ Brown who gained 1k yards on less than 90 targets, sure that's hella impressive. If you're Fournette who does it on 265 carries...
Great back when he has an obvious lane to run through. Without one he is an average player. Can't create and doesn't have much vision. We shouldnt give him a big contract if we extend at all. Unless you've got a guy that is special, I'd rather draft a RB every year (or every other year) in the mid to late rounds and just rotate through them. RBs are expendable commodities that are easily replaceable. No sense investing lots of money or draft capital in them.
The fact that the did a lot of maturing after being stripped of all the bonuses tied to his contract favors him. That he nearly single-handedly carried our rushing offense favors him.

Armstead is not the future.

If anyone deserves to be rewarded on the offensive side of the ball after this season, it's Fournette.

If you don't think he's your future, give Pitt a call, and they likely send a nice package in trade. He seems right up their alley.

Why would Pittsburgh move assets for RB when they have one on the same tier
He had as many rushing TDs as Brady

Conner? Snell? I'm not sure which you're putting your chips in on, but I'd happily take Len over either of those dudes.
It's moot because he never is anymore, but when healthy Conner is much better than Fournette. Not even the same class.
He's absolute trash. He was coming out of college unless he played with ruthless aggression his entire career and he clearly has given that up. I remember him waving on some jackass safety from the Steelers early on in his career and welcoming the result... but he is just another average RB now. His speed is absolutely atrocious and he isn't elusive so his only fallback is to be physical and he no longer wants to be apart of that.

Christ almighty don't resign him - get Fred Taylor back for better results.
I think the whole notion of Fournette "changing" his attitude and falling in line was mostly superficial. I called it out early in the season as it was blatantly evident that he really toned down his running style and basically made a business decision.

He is playing for a contract (which could have hurt him a bit) but also kind of "sticking it to the team" by not exerting his full potential on the field.

I mean it makes sense. He's appealing for a contract but yet christ why would you pay for that style of contract when it isn't going to produce because he doesn't play that style anymore? If he is going to play average RB style we can do that for much cheaper!

Agreed.

RBs are a dime a dozen. Heck, last night Tyler Homer (RB for the Seahawks) was running all over the place.

Use a late round draft pick to select one and only use an early round pick if its a player like McCaffrey, Barkley, etc.

Totally agree. No need to pay him, he isn't a Fred or Maurice. When counted on he lets the team and fans down 9 out 10 times.
It would be nice to have a rob who could actually make someone miss. Fournette gets you what’s blocked and that’s it. 9 times out of 10 when in the open field the 1st guy takes him down. If we had a 1990’s Dallas cowboys online he’d be a ideal guy. But we don’t and in no way am I throwing money at his mediocrity, I won’t give him the option either because he will pull a bottles and get offseason surgery to make sure he gets paid.
