Dee Ford got 5 years, $85m with $33.5m guaranteed and an average of $17.1m per season.
Trey Flowers got 5 years, $90m with $56m guaranteed and an average of $18m per season.
Ngakoue is without a doubt a better player than both of them.
Frank Clark got 5 years, $104m with $62.3m guaranteed and an average of $20.8m per season.
DeMarcus Lawrence got 5 years, $105m with $65m guaranteed and an average of $21m per season.
Ngakoue should be paid right along the lines of Clark and Lawrence.
You make him happy and you have your two young stud pass rushers locked up for the next 4-5 years.
Ngakoue is also 2-4 years younger than all of those guys as well. He's just entering his physical prime and is only going to continue to get better.
If you were the GM, how high would you go? $21M a year? $22M? $25M?
$21m-22m per. Some where around there likely.
Lets be real here, this Franchise doesn't have the luxury of being stingy.. The salary cap increases at least $10m every season so an extra $1-2m per isn't really going to do jack to the cap.
There's no way you can let a few million run off arguably the best player on the team. We've already lost Robinson and Ramsey. This team cannot lose another home grown, blue chip player.
Tagging him is just going to piss him off more. As well as possibly delaying his big contract for another year, which will just continue to drive up his price as the market continues to increase year after year. Don't let it even get to that point. Get the deal done before it gets to that point/gets any worse.
As far as trading him and getting draft picks.. A good portion, if not most of you, don't even want Caldwell here and don't trust him making the selections anyways.. So you really want to give him more picks he could possibly screw up? Lol..
Draft picks are always a question mark regardless. They're rarely a sure thing. Ngakoue is proven. He's a sure thing. Give me the proven all day over some possible draft pick. Especially when he's still only 24 years old and plays one of the most important positions in football.

If you’re famous and you post something on social media, you’re going to be held accountable by your fans, whether that’s positive or negative. The internet, nor this thread in particular work the way you wish it.
It’s my opinion his tweets are annoying. I’m sharing that opinion as others have including yourself. If YOU don’t like that, maybe you can be the one to stop reading this thread. Works both ways bud.
No I'm saying feeling personally upset about it is dumb. You are perfectly entitled to feel like that. Just when you say "social media is for fans", that's not actually based in reality.
The difference being I'm not upset or annoyed reading this thread nor with any tweets I might see.
Don't mistake me saying your opinions are bad with me saying you can't have them
Semantics at this point but being annoyed by something isn’t necessarily being upset. I’m still managing to somehow make it through my day, but I’m holding on by a thread.
I still like Yan and think he’s a good player.

Yeah no, "model teammates" don't try to fight their teammates.
Campbell is the real model, he was the one trying to stop the idiot from fighting the guy who was being immature.

Now there is a guy that deserves a pay day! Yeah he’s older, but he’s another Poz. He’s a leader out there!
To think...he came here BECAUSE of Coughlin! Whatever that means...
and WHO pray tell would step up and be the leader if Calais wasn't here?

Ngakoue took it upon himself to straighten out the problem child of his position group and you keep trying to twist it into some bad character thing. It's such a lame stretch. His teammates praise him at every opportunity. He is considered a model teammate in that locker room. Read, learn, and stop repeating this idiotic slander.
Caldwell:

″I think you guys all know in this room how both Doug and I feel about Yannick through our conversations over the years,″ Caldwell said last Tuesday. ″He is a tremendous player and even a better person. How he handled his business this year was tremendous. But I would say that’s priority No. 1 to make sure he comes back to Jacksonville and that he’s a Jacksonville Jaguar. Hopefully, we can get that done where he’s here for a long period of time.″
Marrone:
“He has been great," Marrone said Friday at TIAA Bank Field. "When you talk about a laser-like focus where … He is only one speed. He is 100 miles per hour working to get better every day.
If anything, you have to kind of pull him back a little bit. That is what you want as a coach. You want to be like, ‘Hey, just pull it back a little bit.’ He just goes. Always a smile on his face, he really loves football."
"You know how you always wonder, ‘What the hell are those coaches talking about when they are out there on the field pregame?’ Well, a lot of times those guys will be [saying], ‘Hey, that 91, that guy can go. He’s got a motor,'" Marrone said. "So, he’s got a lot of respect, not only in this building but around the league."
NFL coordinator and former Maryland coach:
“He doesn’t have any poor habits. He goes full speed all the time. And a lot of times, the best guy isn’t the biggest guy, the fastest guy or the guy with the best technique. It’s the guy who simply outworks other guys. That’s Yannick.”
Minshew:
“How he plays out there is just how he practices every day. He’s awesome and couldn’t ask more from a teammate," Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II said about his teammate after the game. "As a player, he’s one of the best in the game too so hopefully we can keep him around because he’s a super special dude and great player.”
Campbell/Ngakoue:
"He plays with so much tenacity and he can change the game," Campbell said. "I mean when he stripped the ball away and caused the fumble it gave me the opportunity to pick up the ball and score a touchdown for the team."
The play was the perfect summarization of who Ngakoue is and what his principles are. He has always played with a prideful chip on his shoulder and flew around the field with reckless abandon. Tonight was no different.
“When I first got here, I was considered a third-down rusher. I was counted out. I was the 69th pick; I got passed up by all 32 teams three times," Ngakoue said in the locker room following the game. "I just tried to improve my run game while also trying to be a better leader for these guys.”
/\
Literally all he has left now is to try and use a VERY mild scuffle at a football practice as a shining example of how hes been right all along. Poor guy has been wrong for so long now that he cant see how desperate he is and how dumb it makes him look.

Hahaha irony, yeah Campbell was an idiot for not letting this model teammate fight his teammate. I am sure Brady does that all the time, or Brees, or Rodgers, or Fitzgerald, Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, JJ Watt, Deshaun Watson, Calvin Johnson did it, Von Miller, Aaron Donald, Kuechly, McCaffrey, Julio Jones, Adrian Peterson etc etc. You are truly stupid if you really think Ngakoue did the right thing by trying to fight Fowler, and who knows, maybe Fowler would have ended up kicking his [BLEEP]

Personally, I care not what he says on SM, especially considering that one click/swipe/bloop is all it takes to delete that thought from the timeline. If we suddenly make him the highest paid defender in the league, watch how fast those cryptic posts disappear.
