Isn't that what generational prospect means? I've seen "best QB since" or "most sure thing since Luck" "highest graded QB since Luck"
I mean that term has been beat to death. Hell, a legit generation term length is something like 20-30 years, so maybe the draftniks should pick a new phrase... which is what I suggested. Just say "so and so" is the best QB in THIS draft. Isn't that enough?
It's the same rhetoric from the Luck draft. I was soft on Lawrence last year. I've watched more closely this year and definitely love his game a lot more. I just have a hard time seeing any one QB as a franchise changer if the rest of the roster around them isn't managed properly.
I guess I just don't view him as a generational talent. I think he can be very good and I'd love to have him on the team, but I don't even grade him as high as I graded Burrow in the 2020 draft. I certainly don't have him graded as high as I had Luck. I did see Luck as a generational talent. Too bad his GM was completely inept and couldn't get the talent around him. Luck did a fantastic job with the minimal talent around him though. I don't know if Lawrence is that kind of player. He's definitely the top QB in this draft though.

It takes more and this idea that a generational talent puts you over the top is kinda silly. Luck was a "can't miss" prospect. That essentially gave them what Manning did half the time and not much more. They hit the playoffs consistently and were one and done mostly. Never got them a ring and ended his career early due to injuries.
Seems like he wasn't that much of a generational talent so much as just another really good QB. I think too much hype is put on these guys. Mahomes went 12th... He's looking more like a generational QB than Luck ever was...
But that all being said, the best QBs elevate the team around them. Luck took a 1 win clots team and made them a playoff team. No matter who the coaches were and what talent was around them. Stafford took the Lions out of the cellar to be mediocre...
Maybe we should just call Lawrence the best QB of THIS draft instead of the best QB to come out in the last 10 years before he's ever had a snap in the NFL is kinda my point...

Dude is a better prospect than Luck imo. Didn't you think Haskins was the best prospect since Luck? Burrow is right there with Luck and Lawerence imo. As the best prospects in the last 10 years

Maybe not on this board, but some of the media and their draftniks have definitely been calling him the best prospect since John Elway.
Tlaws the best prospect QB prospect ever imo
Just accept that we can't have nice things. No shock if he stays in college.

If he does we should just draft him anyways and hold his rights. Lawrence staying in college when the jags finally get the number 1 pick would be the most jags thing ever.
It could easily be between us and the Jets right now.
Defense is improving but man Texans are meh

If that is improvement, our bar is set very, very, very low.
I'm calling the Jets over the Pats tomorrow night. Even without Darnold playing.

Yah...you're right. But I figure if the Jets are not going to go 0-16, this might be there best chance at a W.

Yeah low bar. Jack played okay and some things worked but they are bottom of the league.
Im beyond being mad. Im actualy watching the games with no expectations, and its a lot less stressful. I love the jags win or lose so yes i do stress and dont ever want to see a "tanking"

I dont think you could tell this year.
Tonight is let's go JETS JETS JETS JETS
1st time in over 15 years that I'll be rooting for the Patriots (this weekend vs the Jets). I did root for them vs the Rams in their 1st SB under Brady.
One thing is very clear...we are serious contenders for the first round pick next year. Giants and Falcons won yesterday. We still have a great shot at losing out the rest of our games this year. Its between us and the Jets who can suck the best. Jets fan tonight!

Jets pulling off the upset baby!!
I'm worried the Jets are going to blow this. Plz don't let it happen.
