I have heard we are competing with the Texans for Pep Hamilton.
I would like to win that competition.
I'm definitely in for Pep.
I don't want Nagy anywhere in this building though and his name has been floated around.
Haven't seen anything about Pep talking to us since that tweet. Have seen a lot of people saying Pep is going to stay in Houston.
Probably need to just accept Press Taylor and pray Pederson's expertise can overcome him.

Agreed. A new OC would probably be more of a QB Coach than anything else. Just working with Lawrence.
So as of now the leaders in the clubhouse:
OC: Press Taylor
DC: Mike Caldwell
I'm ok with this considering I can't really speak on Press too much since I really don't know much about him.

I'd be pleased with that setup. I really wanna see who he brings in at QB Coach, O-Line Coach and WR Coach.

The chance to work with Trevor has got to be better than working with Mills.

He'll get to call plays, and there have been talks about him being a de facto head coach in waiting since Lovie is not really a long term option.

When someone with no coaching experience turns down your head coaching job and you are down to Lovie Smith as a HC option, you know you are in trouble. Nobody wants that Houston job.
I’m bigger on Lovie than the rest of you guys. I think he can thrive if they arr patient and get a QB.

Yeah Nagy induces this face

just hearing his name as a potential candidate.

Too much work to be done there. If Watson's situation was resolved and he wanted to still play there they would have had a coach by now.

Nagy was Bienemy before Bienemy in that Chiefs role. He apparently drew up some great plays, but Reid still calls the shots on gamedays, so kinda hard to tell.
Thinking about it now, didn't Pederson steal the Philly Special from the Chiefs, which likely was designed by Nagy?
Nagy is probably a better OC than as a HC. I think it's just his personality and attitude. He comes off as a dick. Reminds me of Todd Haley.
Again, with Pederson calling the plays I am not overly concerned with the OC hire. That hire will more than likely be the teacher, installer and philosopher during week to week prep with the offense.
"This is why we do that, this is when and where we're going to do this and this is the back up plan if this and that begins to fail."
I hope HBO gives this team a call man. Would love to see this staff with Lawrence and Allen and Robinson and a bunch of new faces this year on hardknocks.

But he'll opt out of hard knocks, a right the Jags would have with a new coach in place.

Pep Hamilton interview is just to check that Rooney box. It's going to be press Taylor as oc. Doug has wanted him as OC since he was in Philly.
Fun fact I didn't realize: press is also the brother of the Bengals HC

From what I understand, McCown didn’t turn down the Texans. They informed him that he would not be getting the job. I think they wanted to hire him, but hiring a white head coach was no coaching experience whatsoever when there are minority candidates with impressive resumes available would have lit the fuse of the powder keg. So they get an experienced HC in Lovie, and now that’s two blind squirrels (Jags, Texans) that found nuts. It must have been raining acorns during this coaching cycle.
I’m all in on Pederson though, and I’m going to trust his judgment as he assembles his coaching staff.

This coach in waiting stuff is a dumb idea. Just name Pep head coach from the get go. He has plenty of resume, certainly more than some other recent coordinator-to-HC hires.

If Goodell is putting a gun to their head and saying hire a minority, Lovie is not the best option. Why not a younger offensive coach, like Pep or Bienemy? I'm actually happy they fired Culley. He did a heck of a job to guide that team to any wins. Let the ineptitude continue in Houston!

I like Lovie overall too. They had a guy that overachieved. Why did they scuttle stability? I don't get the owners in this division. I knew we were the cast off teams but jeez.
