Given that the first two picks were defense, I would have dedicated the rest of the draft to offense.  I would have taken Dulcich or Woods at 65. Then I would have taken Tolbert, Austin, or Shakir at 70.  Then Salyer in the 5th.  I would have taken my RB in the 6th.

But when I dispassionately look at the real picks as compared to my picks, I am not disappointed overall.  They made good, solid picks.  Even the RB I had never heard of looks like a good fit.  I would have preferred more offensive weapons.  But Muma and Fortner are really good picks.  My logical side knows that we could not get everything where we wanted it in one off-season.  But this off-season has been a real success.  Our D is going to be really good.  And our offense will be much better than it was last year.  The future is much brighter than it looked in December.
I can get behind what you’re saying for sure.

The Jags defense is going to be really good next season but I think the offense will be very behind. I just would have liked to see the Jags be aggressive like the Eagles, Raiders, and Fins. Trade for a proven #1 dude.

Defense is what got us to the conference championship 5 years ago (geez, has it been that long?).
Pederson will make our current offensive roster better. I don’t think we’re THAT far behind.
With about 8 picks to go until the 6th round pick for the Jags, here are some late round flyers/prospects still available....

OG Jamaree Salyer
OL Rasheed Walker
WR Bo Melton
WR Justyn Ross
Edge Christopher Allen
CB Josh Jobe
Lions continue having a good draft. Rodriguez is a good late round choice.

You're a downer man. I honestly can't stand you or your really [BLEEP] piss takes around here.

I just say the truth whichever way the truth points. I was one of the highest people here on the Travon pick while everyone else was whining about it. I said the Lloyd trade was very good at the time (I think it's less good now since we got another very good LB and passed on stuff that could have very much helped us). Muma was an excellent value and would be a home run pick if we hadn't already taken Lloyd, and I'm still fine with it anyway. You conveniently forgot those positive things.

Chris Paul would be the no brainer pick for me with this pick.

Yeah, all of Walker, Lloyd (including the trade), and Muma look like good picks in isolation. However, when you look at the draft as a cohesive idea to try to improve a team and then consider the opportunity cost of giving 33 and 106 for a LB it's hard to say that this draft makes us that much better.

If we had kept 33 and 106 and taken say Skyy/Pickens and Kolar/Bellinger then traded the 6ths for Waletzko who we had in for a private workout it would be a far more well rounded and I think improved draft.

Being you don't like this draft gives me much more confidence in this being a good draft lol

I don't follow you personally. In fairness, I tend to gloss over your takes. All is fair though. Almost over. Then we can turn to something else to [BLEEP] at, eh? LOL.

The fact that I usually don't like our drafts and the fact that we have been one of if not the worst team of this generation, and the back to back worst team in the league, would lend some credence to my opinions of our drafts in general right?
Will this be Ross here? Time to reunite with Trevor.

I haven't been a fan of our drafts either, as almost anyone on this message board lol.  But I know the players you have banged the table for never turn out so that makes me feel better
(04-30-2022, 03:24 PM)Upper Wrote: [ -> ]The coping has begun. If three days ago someone told you the extent of the help Trevor would get in the draft was Luke [BLEEP] Fortner everyone would have said it was a failed draft.

If you had asked me three days ago, I would have said the following:

1st Round:  Edge
2nd/3rd Round:  WR, ILB and C in whatever order made sense.
4th Round:  TE
5th Round:  RB

We did get the edge at #1.  We got ILB by trading up from our second round pick and did get a center in the third.  We got a running back in the fifth round.  That's quite a bit right.

We didn't get a tight end in the fourth because we traded up from our second round pick, but I liked the trade up for Lloyd.  I think he's going to be a wonderful player for years to come and filled a big need.

The one huge surprise for me was double dipping at inside linebacker instead of taking a wide receiver.  I think a 3-14 team should find a starter when drafting in the top of the third round.  However, it is hard to get too upset about a pick that was good value.

For the record, I will say that I would have gone Hutch over Walker and taken a different center.  I also wouldn't have been able to name the running back three days ago, but I did say that I would look for a power back to compliment ETN.

Overall, I don't love the draft, but won't hate it as long as Walker performs at a level at or near his draft position.  The lack of a wide receiver is the one glaring need that went unfulfilled.  Tight end was more of a future need.
Soon
The fact is had we taken salyer in the 4th round majority of this message bored would of praised the pick and in hindsight he’s gone middle of the 6th so our opinions and experts opinions at this moment really mean nothing. Judge them when they’re on the field
Gregory Junior, CB, from Ouachita Baptist . . . hmmmm
Ouachita Baptist? That’s a new one on me.
The pride of Arkadelphia Arkansas! Literally.
Honestly, I'd give up all those picks we traded for Lloyd alone. Lloyd will be an All Pro

Fair point. I wonder how/why he fell though. It's really surprising. Not only did a lot of us on here get it wrong, but, so did most armchair GM's and mainstream GM's.
At this point, why aren’t they taking a flyer on Ross instead of some no named dude from a school I’ve never heard of.

Come on now.

The same reason nobody else has taken a flyer on him nobody sees any potential, as I keep saying 3 punters and a kicker have gone in the 4/5th rounds that’s a clear indication of how poor the bottom of this draft is. Teams are just picking up special teamers at this point
Ross is going to be lucky if he gets picked at all it appears.

That cb Gregory jr runs a 4.46
