Good stuff, glad the deal got done before Camp started. Friendly for both sides.

I second this motion to which was my greatest wish. His holding out of Voluntary Camp to get the deal done is A-Typical. We now have Engram, an stellar rookie and the HC's son (if he makes the 53) in our TE room of which I'm expecting BIG Things.

Time Will Tell.

If he wasn't in it for the money and just wanted the stability he would of signed the multi deal last year. He bet on himself to get the bigger contract.   With that said I think the extension was good and fair for both sides.

I was 100% talking about this contract. I didn't realize I would need to clarify that.

Well, it’s partly about the money. This is a business after all but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that and I love that we have him locked up for three years and he’s happy.

Engram could have definitely chased after 14 - 14.5 million and gotten it. It's a team friendly deal imo and it works out great for both sides.
When I kept reading the posters on the board saying he would be gone after this season, I just couldn’t agree with it. This is great news.

Now all I have to do is keep an eye on Swagnew. If I could keep one player it would be Pro Bowler, Agnew.

It's a little under $14 per year but the last year isn't guaranteed. Won't be split like this because of cap but basically a 12, 12, 17 deal and he signs an extension or is cut after year 2.

I wonder if this frees up space for Allen

you have won the internet.

congrations.
Some verbiage on how this deal is fair to both parties but essentially gives the Jags a third year option at 15.75 mil to retain:

PFT:
Quote:The three-year contract has $24 million fully-guaranteed at signing. He previously was due to make $11.345 million fully-guaranteed under the tag. He would have made $13.614 million under the tag in 2024.

His guarantee at signing trails the two tags by $959,000. If he earns the per-game roster bonuses and the 2024 workout bonus, his two-year cash flow will exceed the two tags by $541,000.

The Jaguars essentially hold an option for the third year, at a total payout of $15.75 million.

It gives Engram enhanced security, giving him two years [at the the tag number] but also giving the Jaguars a vehicle for keeping him around for 2025, if they want.

Contract took a while but definately worth it.  Confusing thing to me is his cap number is slated to be 5 million this year ?  Maybe they are mistaken, that would give us 21 million in cap space.  Source below

Based on Shipley's numbers, the Jaguars would have about $10 million remaining after signing their rookie class. What would be the best utilization of this money?

A. Sign Ronald Darby and Dawuan Smoot

B. Sign Yannick Ngakoue

C. Use money to help re-sign Ridley and/or Allen after this season

D. Prioritize paying Lawrence after the 2023-24 season and stay put with current roster

E. None of the Above

I vote for A. Darby is a quality cornerback who could hopefully fit in at nickel. Due to his injury last season, they should get a slight discount. If either Williams or Campbell get hurt, he'd be very capable filling in while they are out. Smoot would likely not cost very much due to his injury and questionable availability to start the season. These 2 signings would significantly improve the team's greatest current weaknesses. While the Super Bowl window is open, they need to do everything possible to make it happen now.
I would start prioritizing the Lawrence mega deal that’s incoming…even if that means letting my boy Swag walk

This is the correct answer.
We might not have the extra loot to sign Ngakoue so cats like Walker are going to have to flat out step up. 3 and a half ain’t gonna cut the mustard. There are other guys too but Mr. Number 1 overall pick is getting a lotta tuff love this year.
Im not as knowledgable about the contract details as many of you. Forgive my ignorance but isnt Agnew on the last year of his deal? Couldnt he just play out the final year or his contract and then the following year his $ would be freed up for Trevor? Or is he wanting an extension?

Agnew has 2023 left on his deal and then he's a UFA

He'd have to have a really outstanding year to be considered for a new contract with the Jags
Like multiple ST touchdowns, and a wealth of offensive impact plays
It is certainly possible, but the Jags cap situation likely means he'll have to look elsewhere next year.
Much more likely the Jags seek out a mid to late rounder to compete for return duties and slide Washington into Agnew's offensive snaps in 2024

Now, for those who think Parker Washington is going to take Agnew's offensive snaps right away or that the team is going to cut Agnew to save money, I say just stop already. Not happening.

Agnew is well respected by this staff and will absolutely get touches on offense this year in addition to being the primary return guy. Washington will get his touches when another receiver is banged up or if they slip in a little package of plays for him to mix things up as the season progresses.

55 million a year for Trevor incoming.
Engram's wife is extremely beautiful.
