I'm so confused, which Josh Allen are we talking about again?

The one drafted #7 in the first round

It's the Josh Allen that was formerly known as the other Josh Allen but then known as the good Josh Allen for a while before he became the bad Josh Allen for a stretch prior to his return to notoriety as the good Josh Allen yet again only to be relegated to the Josh Allen that many Jags fans didn't actually pay any attention to all year because he didn't have 12 sacks-Josh Allen.

Got it?

It's all the fault of that thrilling 9-6 victory over the Bills where Josh Allen sacked Josh Allen, Josh Allen intercepted Josh Allen and Josh Allen recovered a fumble by...who? Josh Allen.

Now my fingers need at least a weeks rest before I type Josh Allen again. Or...maybe they don't.
Josh is probably poised to have a career year. As that's typically how it goes when you're on the verge of hitting the market. If it helps propel this team to a Lombardi trophy come next year in February I am all for it. Would love to see nothing more than him and Walker combine for 25+ sacks along with the rotational guys getting their opportunities to feast.

Probably happens if this offense comes out wrecking shop early and often with 14+ point leads. It's what the clots did for years with Manning putting up points and Mathis and Freeney teeing off on opponents. Good times ahead for us. It's awesome.

100% in order for Allen and Walker to tee off, we need 14 point leads.

Also need pressure from the interior.  Harris brings it at times just not consistent
Jags need pressure up the middle for sure. It would help so much.
I've said it plenty of times and I'll say it again... It'll be a big mistake if they let Allen test FA. Should have already re-signed him.

I agree. He's the man.

Spotrac has his Market Value at 4yr $87m

Similar to Harold Landy, Maxx Crosby, and Leonard Williams. They have Chubb listed in there as well but I don't think he'll get that much.

I couldn’t support giving him that.

Why though? Statistically he's on that level

I’m not very good with words but I’ll try to answer. If you’re close to my age you might understand. Maybe not.

Because I’m old lol! Because times change, sometimes for the better and sometimes not imo. Josh Allen is a good football player but not even close to say…..Lawerence Taylor. Yet Allen is being paid more unless I’m mistaken. It somehow doesn’t seem….right. Times change and costs always increase, sometimes skyrocket.

Heck, I still can’t believe it’s a personal foul to touch the QB in the helmet. Ronnie Lott and Jack Tatum wouldn’t even be allowed to play today.

I have no problems with a fair contract. But it seems too much given the productivity. At least to me.

Josh Allen falls under the "You don't know what you have till it is gone" classification.  A lot of poster think Danielle Hunter is a beast. Well how do the first 3 years of Josh compare to Danielle? (Even though Danielle didn't get the opportunity to play for Urban).

Josh        1811 snaps, 20.5 sacks,  128 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 1 interceptions
Danielle   1766 snaps, 25.5 sacks,  133 tackles, 2 forced fumbles,  0 interceptions
Danielle   1811 snaps, 26    sacks   136 tackles  2 forced fumbles  0  interceptions (expanded to 1811 games assuming linear production)                                               Danielle      (+-)           5.5 sacks,      5 tackles, -1 forced fumbles, -1 interceptions

Danielle if you look at it  5.5 more sacks tackles about the same, 2 less turnovers.  He got better during his second contract. I have not seen anything from Josh to say he can't do the same.

It sounds like a fantastical amount of money, but that is what the market bears for a guy on Allen's level of contribution to a defense right now. The fact he did everything well except sack the QB last year has many fans stuck in some recency bias, and that's understandable.

But - big picture - if he has a similar year this year with a few more sacks - he's gonna get paid big time. From us or someone else.
Allen is probably out most important player on defense. Him.and tyson Campbell. They'd be silly to let him go.

what does that mean? You'll boycott the team? Don a clown mask at the game? Send a strongly-worded email?

I kinda think any of those responses would be quite entertaining, so now I kinda wanna see it happen.
