I think they will bank on improvement from getting Devon Hamilton back, and Smoot rounding into form.

Personally, while I think our "window" will remain open as long as we have Trevor Lawrence, I don't think we're so close to the top that we can blow money on a half-year rental player.

This.

This X 2.  Our window is not closing after this year.  I don't see the Jags giving away picks and using significant salary cap space for a half year rental.

Uche is a $1.7m cap hit and probably can be had for a later round pick. I wouldn't hate it even if it was just for this year. And with the way the NFL is this year, we very well COULD be just a better pass rush away from winning it all.
The Jags are contenders right now for the SB.

Give me as many pass rushers as possible. They won't be giving up a 1st round pick or even a 2nd rounder if I had to guess.

I'll gladly give up day 3 picks for a pass rusher this year so that they can keep the pressure on Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, and Burrow.

These kinds of seasons aren’t always guaranteed. Make a big trade if you think it will help put some extra icing on the cake.
Still keep an eye on Hunter, Young, and Sweat as well. With Cousins going down and Washington losing, all of those options are back on the table.
I suspect Hunter, Young, and Uche are all in play depending on the compensation.

They’ve already had a deal in place for Hunter that fell through, and Dilla alluded to an offer made for Young.

I feel Hunter and Uche would be rentals, but Young would be extended with the trade.

That would be pretty stupid to trade away your starting Center, who is also a 2nd year player on a rookie contract.

Not if he's a turnstile.

Don't be an idiot.  If he was a turnstile, he wouldn't be starting.

Again, I would like to see the front office's spreadsheet showing how they are going to fit all these guys into the salary cap going forward, before I made a trade for a guy like that.  Until then, I am skeptical about any such trade.  Because I don't see how they can fit him under the cap without letting go of other good players.

He's the closest thing to a turnstile a starting NFL center can be

And his run blocking is even worse unless his assignment is letting someone through and moving to a second level block
Cap is actually easy. As it sits we are under the cap a good chunk for next year.

Easy /Likely moves:
-Cam and Scherff most likely gone
-Jenkins too
-Restructure Kirk

Those moves push you to 63 million worth of cap. Extending Trevor and Oluokon can push some of their cap hit as well.

They got the money to extend about anyone they want and make an addition. IF the talent makes sense for the compensation

That frees up

Don't forget that they will be paying Allen a big amount and it will be difficult to part ways with Ridley (another big chunk). They are likely going to bite the bullet on Trevor in the off-season which will be a huge figure. I'm all for Uche if his injury is not an issue. He would be a big help this season with the possibility of a reasonable long-term deal- something they won't get for Hunter, Young or Sweat.

He's starting because Baalke didn't bring in competition and doesn't want to swallow his pride and admit the pick was a waste. He could get better, but he's one of the worst "starting" centers, if not the worst.
Well, we just have to wait another 20 odd hours to find out two things.

If they make a move...any move
and
If they flex the 49er game...

Any contract for Allen would most likely have a small 2024 cap number, same with Rid. Also, any new money for Trevor probably doesn’t even touch next years cap.

Them losing 3 in a row has certainly hindered that possibility
To me a pick( at least from the earlier rounds 1-3) holds more value than any DL that we can trade for right now, the only trade I think we NEED is OL.

We already faced the Chiefs and the Bills this year and hold them to 17 and 20 points respectively, we already holded the Chiefs to 27 last year with a defence playing worse than this year. You don't need a good DL to beat the Chiefs, the Eagles had one of the best DLs in history last year and still lost the SB, in my opinion offence is WAY more important than defence when playing great teams like the Chiefs.
I would be really inconvenienced if they did flex the game.  We have 4 tickets for that one and if they move the game it would be difficult to make the drive.  Four hours each way and we all have to be back for work/school the next day.

You’re not beating Mahomes without consistent pressure. Facts
Seahawks just picked-up Leonard Williams from the Giants. For a 2nd RD pick and a future 5th RD pick I believe. Interesting move. He's a pretty good DT.

And the Chiefs have beaten us 3 times in a row. If we play them again in the playoffs with no changes, what are the chances of us finally doing enough?
