Giveit up jags are not going to trade for a pass rusher. in fact they won't even make a trade before the trade deadline today.
Washington sending Sweat to the Bears for a 2nd RD pick.

If we were in on him, it was going to require our 1st considering where ours and the bears picks will likely be.

Yep. Really good football player though. One of the more quiet, consistent pass rushers in the NFL. He would have been a good fit here. It's a shame he's going to get burned out now up there in Chicago. That whole damn team is a mess.

It was a major numbers game for the Commanders from what Tony Pauline just tweeted. Jonathan Allen was extended for four years at $72M, Daron Payne was extended at four years for $90M and they're looking at Chase Young in his final year of his rookie deal and more than likely looking to extend him and keep him.

Sweat was the odd man out. Having that early 2nd RD pick though will enable them to double dip right back at the DE/DT positions if needed in next year's draft. Smart move.
About 3 hours left to trade or not.
Lots of edge rusher rumors picking up right now.

Uche, Young and Hunter.... stay tuned (maybe not for Jags but rumors are swirling)
My son says Chase Young is on the block.
For those unclear on picks available to use in trade:

The Jaguars have 9 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft as of today: one pick in each round, plus extra fourth- and sixth-round picks from the Saints and Panthers.

They will almost assuredly get compensatory picks for Jawaan Taylor and Arden Key, and could also get them for Manhertz and Marvin Jones.

So likely 11 picks, with the chance for 13.

They can't trade their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. They can trade the Saints' 4th, though.

Comp picks are based on a formula which takes into account how many free agents you lost and how many you hired.  It's not a one-to-one relationship as I understand it.  So I don't know why Shipley would say, "We get a comp pick for this guy..."  I don't think it works that way.

Nice. Is he throwing a party?

It's last year and the Jags didn't sign enough to replace them. Now I don't know what the formula is but it's known enough to make the educated guess.

Chase Young?

Read through the replies. Somebody said his uncle supposedly sent a picture of him at JAX Airport. He's already here maybe. I don't know. Interesting if true because no news has been dropped yet and you would think it would have by now with Sweat already traded from the same team.
