Lets get Hamilton back and smoot and see where we are. I would like to see abdullah get a bit more playing time on passing downs.
Trading any picks from next year is problematic. We would pay a price in future years. Trading an experienced O lineman away would just be nuts and increase injury risk for TL. The D has been playing well as it is with the players some would cast aside. We most likely get Smoot back this week and Devon close behind him. Our D should get even better with them added. I just do not see the value as the player we trade away will just weaken another area. So I guess we can then have another string discussing trading to close that gap...and so on and so on...

whack-a-mole anyone?

I agree with this

Ham should get push inside we aren't getting

Smoot may help at DT on passing downs plus OLB rotation

However, do you really think adding a pass rusher now in the middle of the year, knowing that we have glaring issues on the offensive line and will have to face a minimum of two or three good AFC team's in the event we do make the play-off's, and undoubtedly face more than likely a good pass rushing defense. Is this the best move to make?

We're entering next year's draft short a day two selection due to the Ridley trade as well. I also think that, we could have beaten the Chiefs in week 2 had we played better offensively. We also just beat the Bills. Those are two play-off matchups right there more than likely.

I think we can manage. Maybe the coaching staff needs to figure out where to play Walker more effectively during the bye week. Maybe we'll catch more fire in the pass rushing department with Hamilton and Smoot back in the fold as well. Again, I hear you. I always appreciate your views and opinions with this team. You know your [BLEEP].

I just don't know about this one in the short term and long term. It's a possibility though. They did entertain Clowney at some point. Along with Campbell in the off season. Nothing came out of it.

First of all, thanks for the complement. The points you make are certainly valid, especially regarding the poor performance of the offensive line. While our line is definitely below average, I do expect Robinson to keep improving as he gets rid of the rust. Harrison has had his ups and downs, like most rookies, but I expect him to keep getting better each game. Can't say I feel as good about Fortner or Bartch, but Little should be returning in 2-3 weeks so a line of Robinson, Little, Shatley,
Scherff and Harrison would be sufficient considering Trevor's ability to get rid of the ball quickly or run when pressured. Optimistically, Cooper Hodges showed signs of being an eventual starter at guard and he could be solid depth once he returns.

The importance of having two great pass rushers cannot be overestimated. I'll never forget the 2008 Super Bowl when the Giants pass rush lead by Strahan and Tuck got to Brady for 5 sacks which enabled them to defeat one of the greatest offensive teams of all-time. The only way to beat a Mahomes is to create consistent pressure and the current defense cannot do this. Walker has shown no signs of being a great pass rusher from the Edge and I believe he'd be much more effective as a DE. While Burns or Hunter would likely cost the Jaguars a 1st rounder, what are the chances that they'd find anyone remotely as good when picking somewhere between 25-32 in next April's draft? I know you like Abdullah's potential, and I hope you're right, but the vast majority of undersized pass rushers do not succeed. If he does turn into the next Elvis Dumervill, however, that would make the pass rush even more devastating.

Draft weekend is my favorite time of year, and it would be boring to be without picks in the first two rounds. Despite that, the team could still address the weakness on the interior offensive line in rounds 3 or 4 and hopefully add a cornerback/nickel- especially if Williams is let go.

I appreciate your passion regarding the Jaguars and while we may not always agree on every topic, your opinions are always appreciated!
I thought Danielle Hunter was on the short list, but with Smoot coming back and Hamilton getting closer, I think OL is a better get at this point in the season. That being said, 16 is wheeling and dealing anyway so maybe not.. I am sick and tired of looking at 45 on the field during a critical play of the ball game. I mean play the rookie over him if you have to, dude is just taking up space.
I think the jags don’t really get much out of picks after the 4th rounds. Don’t hoard all those picks if you can make a championship contending team even better now while the window is open. This is the beginning of the window. You want to strike early. Look what the 49rs did. They picked up a nice piece in the middle of the season more than once. The rich get richer. Go get it. That being said, I have faith that Walker will start getting home, but I think another weapon couldn’t hurt.

The 49ers wouldn't be the 49ers we know now without McCaffrey.
For me, I would look to trade for an offensive lineman. With our defense currently doing fairly well, I'd rather try to see some improvement from the offensive line. When our offense is actually clicking, its near impossible to stop. We've seen it some, but not consistently and I think alot of that has to do with the line. Then throw in the fact of how many hits we've seen Trevor take already this year, that pass rush wont mean anything if Trevor gets injured. Its taken us so so many years to finally get a QB, I'm just not willing to risk it.
Fun to speculate, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. We still have guys coming back from injury to help the d-line and I have a feeling the Jags coaches are more content with where Walker is at the moment than the fans are. You make a trade like this if you have cap room, if you can find a willing trade partner and if you just suffered a season ending injury to a star pass rusher which significantly affects what you want to do on defense and your odds at making a run.
I wouldn't mind a trade for an edge guy that isn't a star, such as Hunter or Burns, which will be costly from cap to valuable high draft capital. I would be happy with another team's rushing productive rotational piece or backup that could reduce or eliminate Chaisson's snaps.
If you could get hunter for a 5th on a 10 game rental I think it’s worth it. And if we want to really push in January we’re gonna need that type of help

If I remember correct, the Panthers already turned down two 1st round picks for Burns.

Tepper gonna give Irsay a run for his money as the most guanopsychotic owner in the league.

FTFY.

This was my thinking. Pass rushers like Hunter and Burns are extremely hard to find and if you have a chance to get them you do it. Hope you are correct about Walker.

I don’t see Walker doing squat. He’s a pusher.  He’s a big strong body that seems to be durable, and is good value in that sense. But I don’t see his ceiling being much higher as a disruptive force.

I just saw this and really hope it's for a trade to the Jaguars if they don't go after Hunter. Clark could be a valuable addition and would not cost nearly as much as Hunter or Burns.

I wonder if he is injured somewhat.  This is week 6 and he has only played in 2 games, only 36 snaps.  KC may have let him walk to Denver for a reason.

I mean, he's just not that good.  KC fans weren't mad about him leaving this past offseason.  Averaged roughly 6 sacks per season playing alongside Chris Jones for 4 years.  To his credit he was really good during their playoff runs, but how confident can you be that his continued poor play in the regular season will still translate to him playing well in the postseason?  If we get him for nothing it's a fine enough gamble, but he's mostly name recognition at this point.
