Maybe, that's who I wanted when he fell to 16, although I was very high on BTJ as well.  Mitchell has been very good for the Eagles but I'm glad we got BTJ.  Getting BTJ while adding a 3rd and a 4th is high level.

BTJ was my target just around Thanksgiving of last year. Was happy to see him there. Newton at DT was a close 2nd.

At 17, it's narrowed down to the following for me:

1. Taliese Fuaga - OT/OG
2. Quinyon Mitchell - CB
3. Laiatu Latu - EDGE

That's what you had a couple days before the draft.

I started liking BTJ for us around mid season as well and then after his ras, top 10 all time at WR along with the production and leading college in TDs made it icing on the cake.  Glad Baalke pulled the trigger on him.

A lot of that was based upon my belief that BTJ would be gone by then. Especially after the combine performance. I was surprised he didn't end up as a Jet or Bengal.

Because it felt like the Jets could have used another weapon to help Rodgers out and the Bengals had that whole situation up in the air with Higgins.
Thomas needs 469 receiving yards to have the most receiving yards by a Jaguars rookie in franchise history. (Blackmon 865 in 2012).

Thomas needs 43 more receptions to break the rookie team record of 64 receptions set by Blackmon in 2012.

Thomas is also on pace to set the team record for a rookie WR with a crazy 79.4 receiving yards per game. That’s late-career Jimmy Smith type production. To put that in perspective, the next closes rookie WR is Allen Robinson with 54.8

Thomas is also #1 for all Jaguars rookies with 18.0 yards per reception.

3 more TD receptions will put Thomas at the top with Allen Hurns as the Jaguars rookie WR with the most TD catches. Hurns had 6 in 2014.

Thomas has 410 yards of offense after 5 games.

Fun Fact: in 2004, first round pick Reggie Williams had 27 receptions. Thomas has 22 receptions after 5 games, and 2 of those catches were for 66 and 85 yards.

Enjoy stats, but it’s about the production and right now Brian Thomas is that dude! Thomas now has 3 games of 90+ yards of offense, in just 5 games. WOW

Only 2 games, but he’s officially scored a TD in every AFC South game.

After Justin Blackmon’s first 5 games he had 13 receptions for 119 yards and 0 TD

Allen Robinson’s first 5 games, he had 22 receptions for 243 yards and 0 TD

Brian Thomas’ first 5 games, 22 receptions for 397 yards and 3 TD

This last week put him on the map. We will now see how he does as teams will be dissecting their video looking for tells and tenancies.  He should do fine.

100%
This is what a Real Star WR does. It doesn't take multiple games, seasons to come along. They just produce right out of the gates

not voting him any accolades so that we can re-sign him for cheap in four years. Think the long game, folks!

Doesn't matter anyway, Jags only win awards once a decade or so by default.

You mean since guys like Lawrence and Allen won all those awards and accolades to where we had to sign them to huge contracts?  Makes sense

To be fair to JB and AR, they had Gabbert and Blake throwing to them. Trevor on a bad day is still better than those two. Bortles got a little better through the years but still wasn’t ever close to Trevor’s level

I love that Bortles' best year was his sophomore slump

To be even more fair, Blackmon had 200 with backup Chad Henne throwing him the football. Allen Robinson had 1400 yards and 14 TD with that same Bortles.

You never said he didn’t, but Thomas has produced more after 5 games than any other rookie WR in franchise history, regardless of who was throwing the ball.

The play when BTJ torched Ramsey for the PI, and then stoop up and gave Ramsey the business what the moment I knew he was special. He's gonna get a big 2nd contract if he can keep his head on straight and keep getting better.
