What they need is a flanker
the Z receiver
BTJ is an X - no need for another
The flanker or Z receiver runs a different branch of the tree with the benefit of not facing as much press right at the line as they line up a step back from the line most plays to keep formation protocol legal - while the X lines up right on the line - often with a CB pressing him on his first step
Many successful Z receivers over the decades did not have the X receiver prototypical size and length
One of the best ever Z receivers was Tim Brown - 195 - 6'0"
Several other notable Z guys have been 6'1" or less and under 210
A really good dig route, ability to sit down in zone coverage, and precise route running on short and intermediate stuff - even if possessing less that elite speed are all common traits.
I was listening to the Heed the Call podcast today and they were talking about the Jets. Apparently Garrett Wilson has said he's not returning next season if Rodgers comes back and Sauce Gardner has taken himself out the last 2 games with an 'injury'. After the game on Twitter there were highlights of Tee Higgins. A Jets fan tweeted Gardner saying 'tell Higgins to sign with the Jets' to which Gardner replied 'I won't be doing that'
I know as fans we want players to love teams as much as we do but that's not true with modern players and they don't want to waste their careers at bad franchises. We lost Robinson this way, Ramsey this way and we need to make sure that BTJ doesn't see his future away from this team.
BTJ has been the one bright spot on this team and looks a genuine star who can become an elite WR. Plenty of teams will want him, we need to show him that here is the best place for him.
It will still be tight for him to get 2nd team All Pro.
Should have been 13 on the season but he dropped 2. He’s going to be All Pro next year.
Brian Thomas finished with more receiving yards than the Jaguars' next three players combined.
It's the fifth most single season receiving yards in Jaguars history. Only Jimmy Smith and Allen Robinson have ever had more.

Definitely
The play was on the opposite side of the field in the far corner away from the Jags side of the field. He’s got to rely on the coaches upstairs to let him know whether to challenge. Did they? We’ll never know. Plus, with first and goal from the 2 it would not have been the smartest challenge…and they did score.

You’re 100% right. These players don’t love any team they play for. They are there for a paycheck and that’s it.

And the 2nd most receiving TD in a single-season. (Tied with Lewis, Williams, Hurns)
Only 4 players have had MORE than 85 receptions in a single-season = Smith, McCardell, Engram, and Thomas
85 yard reception is the 2nd longest reception in franchise history.
