Hopefully a new GM trades down, gets a haul, then goes strictly BAP with those picks. Just infuse the defense with talent like we have the offense the last few years.

And he's not good. He's just a 4th option. So that's something I guess. Unless you have him on your fantasy team today. Then he's really good.
He wasn't brought here to be the 4th option, he was brought here to be a starter opposite Kirk. That's the issue, they replaced Ridley/Zay with a cheaper but far lesser option.

He installed some confidence and standards and the players thrived in it. I didn't blame him for how last season ended and still thought he could get us out from the 0-4 start we had. We just needed to start doing the little things right again but there's so many things we just aren't doing well or right at this moment.
I know everyone makes their own decisions on who's to blame. Doug, Baalke, the co-ordinatiors, the players but I can't believe the team I'm watching. We are so much better than this (I know people will disagree) and I don't know what the solution is right now.
And the worry is Doug looks like he doesn't know either. But thank you, I was just having a moment, I know your right and Doug going fixes nothing. Plus he deserves to see the year out at least.
Id say he deserves to be tied to the the axle in the wheel well on the way home more than he deserves seeing this thing out to the end. Lol. I truly thought he was the coach to bring a SB to Jax. The offensive talent is close to that caliber, imo (gotta work on OL and figure out the ETN situation). But they're close to being what we want them to be and what they should be. The defense, however, is completely unacceptable.
Doug showed us this off-season that he, unfortunately, is not the coach that is going to get us there. And honestly, I don't think Baalke CAN draft and sign FA players that fit his schemes at this point, because they're outdated. The skills players we have don't fit what he and Press try to do.
At the end of the year, I hope Khans coaching shortlist includes young offensive masterminds, and his GM short list includes young ex-players. Oddly, with Baalke here, Khan should know exactly where to look to model the next GM/Coach pairing after..... San Fran. They, a long with Cincy, Hou, and a few others are showing the league the blueprint to success if you don't have Andy Ried.
I can't believe how bad the D looks. We've had some bad D's over the years but this one is right up there. It's how quickly and epically they collapse that gets me. They looked so good that first week in Miami, it's crazy how far they've dropped.
In an ideal situation, Ben Johnson as HC/OC and someone like Saleh as DC I'd be happy with but can't see either rushing to come here.

We are not making the playoffs with this head coach. It is virtually certain. That was the expectation.
I agree any hopes of playoffs are over. 1-5 is too big of a hole with the way we're playing and the schedule we have coming up. We've done crazy things before but not this time.
I just don't see how Press or Nielsen or McCoy stepping up for the rest of the season helps anyone. Dougs in BIG trouble and it would take a miracle for him to do something that doesn't see him let go at the end of the season but I see a lot of people going if we keep playing like this.

Campbell going out in the opener was a huge loss. To a lesser extent, losing Wingard in the preseason may have had a bigger impact than we initially assigned to it. Couple that with Darby and Armstead being underwhelming. Hopefully Armstead still has some room for improvement after recovering from injury.

It's time for everyone to understand that nobody is coming to Jacksonville if they can avoid it. No young OC/DC is going to waste his opportunity to be HC for that.

Pederson doesn't know defense at all. It's becoming abundantly clear how fortunate he was with the Eagles to have Jim Schwartz on his staff. Mike Caldwell was better than this. His decision to move on suddenly has backfired.
Richard is the defensive backs coach and that is one of our biggest problems, hard pass.
