It's Press Taylor's time. I can't wait!
I seen where some jags commentators were saying that either Doug or press should be fired because of the way the offense is not performing. You need to get rid of one and see how well the offense does with who’s left. Also, there is speculation that Doug is scared to take control of the offense because he’s “lost his abilities “ to call plays. So sad. What a bad time for this to go down when the jags finally have some actual talent on offense. This is a frustrating disgrace.

You say the Jags have talent on offense.  I don't think they have much talent on the offensive line, which is the most important part of the offense.

I don't know any reason why a coach would prefer a "bigger market."  The NFL is all one market.  And Shad Khan can pay as much as anyone else.  What reason would you see that would cause a coach to want to play in a bigger market?

PHIL
flippin
RAUSCHER

3 yards and a cloud of punts for the rest of the season

You want blood, you got it. You get to see just how much worse it could be. At least Cooke would cement his spot on the probe owl roster.

Kris Richard.

McCoy becomes OC and they ride out the rest of the season.

Some may even prefer a market like Jax (team performance aside). No income tax, lower cost of living compared to major markets, less traffic congestion, reasonable weather, etc.
Praying that cincy keeps Taylor another year. With our QB situation settled it would IMO make us the most attractive option for offensive minds, provided BAALKE IS GONE.

(Just listing a reason.)

In terms of preferring a bigger market: I just think there's some legacy points to be had in terms of taking over a large-market team.  For example, taking the Chicago Bears job and creating a team that wins the Superbowl for the first time since the legendary 1986 team would be pretty sweet.  There is simply a level of fame that comes with guiding an old school team to the big game, in the case above taking a team that was formed in 1920 to it's second Superbowl win would be pretty spectacular.

Now that doesn't necessarily apply to all coaches, but it is a reason.

So Andy Reid is missing out on something because he's in Kansas City?

Yes, as I clearly stated above, all of Andy Reid's Superbowl wins are trash, he just wishes he was the waterboy for the Cowboys! Confused

McCoy has never been an OC, but they could put McCoy in the big chair and keep Press in place. Everyone assumes that he exits with Pederson (if he's let go which is still up in the air), but it's not a guarantee. And the response would be quite entertaining.

I like this as well. Mentioned I was surprised last month that they had not canned Nielsen and promoted Richard into the DC position. At one point he was a leading HC candidate a few times during his time in Seattle.
In regards to the “big market” talk. It’s been said over and over that Ben Johnson prefers a smaller market team

Pederson was supposedly offered the saints HC job and took Jax, so....

I think every single "market consideration" is very individual.

Every big name FA this team has ever signed was precluded with ppl on this very message board saying
"He'll never come to Jax ! "

...and then he did

I don't read much into that stuff.
Money talks and Khan is willing to spend.
Word is the Giants are firing Daboll, and I think that would be a good fit here.
At least Daboll seems like he cares.
If we bring in a defensive head coach I’d love for them to bring Daboll in as OC. That’s where he belongs and he’s good at it.

I could see Doug agreeing to take a bit less money if they only fire him. That way Press doesn't have mid-season firing on his resume. I still don't see why anyone would hire him to any coaching position but I guess his brother will give him a job if he still has one.
