From the second she started losing out on the All Around finals her non-verbals were screaming that she was in pout mode. Simply compare Douglas in pictures from 2012 and 2016. It's not about how she feels about the flag or country or anything else but how she lost. And yes, Solo was awfully ungracious too, though the medal stand is a much brighter spotlight.

Lochte has always been an idiot. White privilege has nothing to do with anything here.  His own stupidity cost him what little credibility he had, and it's hitting him in the wallet with the loss of endorsements/sponsors.

Proper etiquette regarding our flag and national anthem used to be taught in schools as the right thing to do (which it is).  For many years in schools all across the country the day used to be started by standing, placing your hand over your heart and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.  It doesn't happen as much anymore in today's society for a number of reasons.

 

1.  Far left liberal groups and atheist groups were suddenly "offended" by the word God being used in The Pledge.  Rather than just choose to refrain from saying two simple words that are part of The Pledge, they choose to "opt out" from any and all participation.  A few examples of this are as follows.

 

2.  Some will show disrespect by either turning their back or refusing to show even the slightest bit of respect for what our Flag, National Anthem or Pledge symbolizes.

 

3.  There are many in this country that are "ashamed" to be citizens.  You have some (by far mostly far left liberals) that will desecrate The Flag in a number of ways.

 

This issue has nothing to do with PC and everything to do with how the far left in this country are dividing us.  TAM just gets his panties in a wad because I happened to bring up many examples of how stupid PC stuff also contributes to this stuff.

 

I also take offense to anyone calling our national customs and traditions "commie".  Many men and women have paid the ultimate price in the past fighting communism so excuse me if I get offended by being called "commie".

1. Those words were added in the 50's not part of the original pledge. As we are supposed to be a secular nation and establishing no religion adding a reference to one or more really isn't right but w/e.

 

2. Some people disrespect our flag by flying it along side the traitor's flag of the rebellion. 

 

3. There are many people in this country that actively hate this country and by extension it's flag by wanting to secede and make their own country.

It has everything to do with nationalistic political correctness. It's really not that big of a deal but it is 100% PC to you to not disrespect the flag. Also it is an economic/political model, i'm not sure how a political model causes offense but I get it is 2016 and things aren't what they used to be and it is easy to cause offense.

You're the one that caused offense by calling our custom regarding THE FLAG, THE PLEDGE and THE NATIONAL ANTHEM "commie".  I get that you're a brit probably still bitter that we succeeded in defeating your commanders and leaders and earned our freedom.  I get that you are probably jealous that our country was able to do so, then turned around to become the greatest country on earth.

If you want to take a real close and hard look at what communism is all about, take a look at North Korea or Cuba.  Our country is not nearly as bad off as those countries and we don't impose anything near what they do.  If you want to take a look at a combination of communism and socialism, take a close look at Venezuela and see what's going on there.

While living in Australia an Ex British Colony? I would have a lot of bitterness if I was upset about every country Britain doesn't control anymore? I probably can't even name half of them. I don't think you understand that American independence isn't remotely important to British people, in fact I bet many younger one's wouldn't even realise.

 

I'd rather live in Australia thanks.

How many threads did he start in the spring about how PC is killing america and making us losers?  There were a few months where he would come up with one PC thing every week.  Now that we point out that his freak out with paying respect to the national anthem and the flag is actually a form of PC, he's having an anyeurism trying to deflect that away.

 

It's actually very fascinating to watch.

Eh... It's whatever. It's not the first time he's disappeared from a thread or ignored a post rather than just admitting being wrong. It's some weird kind of conservative pride I guess. Never admit you are wrong or allow your stance to be challenged. It's one of the biggest differences between conservatives and liberals. Liberals are willing to accept evidence and admit they are wrong. Conservatives' reality shatters should they do that.
