Quote:The point you seem to be ignoring is those fancy metrics aren't nearly 100% accurate and shouldn't be taken as such.
You are much like hailtoyourvictor in that even when you are glaringly incorrect you can't just admit it and move on.
That's what happens when you are overwhelmingly smarter than everyone else.
Ok fine guys, your neanderthalic approach to the game has convinced me. Hurns (or anyone) doing something that is only done by any player once every handful of years or so is clearly a pattern that should be expected to continue...heck if not improved upon! Clearly it's not an anomaly that is highly unlikely to be repeated by anyone much less the same person. It would just be madness to even suggest it!
Hopefully Tony Khan is reading this so he can learn from the masses and shut down this silly analytics department he is wasting millions of dollars and multiple people with Ivy league degrees lives on.

Seriously. What the hell does any of this mean?
These brilliant analytic people with Ivy League degrees and Khan's multi million analytic department are so worried about Hurn's Toudown regression that the Jags made zero attempt to bring in another receiver this offseason?
Is that genius or what?
KY, why didn't you respond to my last age adjusted example? You just dropped it, like maybe you realized you were wrong??
Quote:There is no real answer to this. If he becomes a serious contender to be in that big 2nd tier of WR in the league, in the same class as AJ Green, Arob, Dez, Watkins, Allen, Evans, Jeffery, Amari, etc...then we can start the discussion. He's not very close that yet though and since he is the #1 TD regression candidate in the league (Arob is #3 behind Baldwin too btw) I expect this will be a silly conversation next offseason.
If this was a top 250 or so list then Hurns on the back end would have a good argument to me...which would put him in the top 16% of all active NFL players so still very solid.
Please post the full list of TD regression candidates for WRs so I can take a look at it.
Also please go ahead and post the full TD regression list for QBs too. I would like to take a look at that too.

What he can't get through his thick skull is Hurns' ranking is based on last year's production. Regression is about predicting the future. If he wants to use regression to predict his production this coming season then fine, but this ranking has nothing to do with predicting the future.
If you are using regression to try and dispute what has already happened then you are an idiot who doesn't understand how regression works. You are using the regression to dispute the data elements which were used to create the regression in the first place. A huge logical fallacy.

He hasn't responded to any of mine either. It's truly sad and funny at the same time.
About this metrics crap where was this crap when they evaluated Hurns and came up with undrafted free agent. The kid PRODUCES it don't matter if rub on a genie's nuts and wish for him to fail Hurns and Robinson have a swag about them now they believe they are two of the best and it seems the rest of the league think so to. I say we leave him to his metrics and just watch hurns prowl against dbs this year.... busters.

Where did you come up with any of this? No one ever hinted that Hurns was a bad player or was even close to needing to be replaced.
What the TK part was saying is that the Jags, and every NFL team for that matter, are investing very heavily in analytics right now and shrugging it all off (or downright attacking it) like almost everybody in this thread has been doing is very unwise.

Which one was that? I responded to the Mack/Watt one and haven't seen one since.

What are you talking about? All you have done is post inflammatory post after inflammatory post, with zero contribution of any substance. If you expected me to respond to your incessant trolling then I don't know what to say.

Except that I have said many times that I understand it was based on last year's production, and even with the fluky TD numbers I still don't think he was a top 100 player purely based on last years production even.
You're the one who has read me say that a number of times and still can't get it through your thick skull, to use your inciting words not mine. The reading comprehension on this board truly is something special.
A quadruple post. Bruh is sweating.

I keep trying to move on, but trolls keep posting inflammatory posts calling me out falsely or flat out being incapable of reading plain english. But you're right, they won't stop so I'll just ignore from now on.
So Preston Smith (age 23, entering the arc) has 8 sacks, and Von Miller has 11 sacks (age 27, middle of arc). Age adjusted, Smith is much better than Miller and should be ranked higher. Am I doing this right, or do you see how your thought process is [BLEEP] at best?
Teach me about nuance, KY! I want some of your football knowledge!
Where is FBT's signature when u need it?
Well.... here's a rabbit hole to dive into...
Quote:You must be new around here. Ky and yo boy are trolls.
Trolling what? Lol good try tho...
