Quote:In case anyone is interested in Wash's comments in a sit-down with Oehser and Shadrick for a few days ago, link and paraphrased highlights here:

I think his comments about Fowler is very telling. When they drafted him they didn't necessarily expect him to be a sack machine but expect him to be very disruptive.

Disruption sounds like it will be a key word we'll hear a lot this season.

Wash is bent on finding more. He mentions that even when we managed to generate sacks with Marks and Clemons we were still 29th in the league in disruptions.  Not good enough.

Fowler has one of the best 10-yard splits ever for a DE. This tells me all I need to know about his explosion.
Sarcasm. Talk to your friend pirkster.
Quote:They are putting a lot of pressure on a kid coming off an acl injury who's never played a down. They missed on luke and he was 2nd overall. If Dave is smart he will get a proven pass rusher in free agency

That's really what needs to happen.  Plus draft.
As long as he isn't playing the IR position, idc..

Again, HUGE joke, But you really need to stop leaning on measurables. Especially if that "tells you all you need to know" about his explosiveness.

Matt Jones, the least "explosive" person in NFL history, had a faster 10 yard split. Vernon Gholston, known as one of the biggest busts in history, had a faster one as well.
alright then watch his get off if your not measurable guy he fast
His explosiveness before a major injury hardly matters now. The key is how he recovers and whether he can still be effectively explosive.

An ACL at age 21 is not going to have a great effect on him.

Couldn't agree more.
Our Primary target for FA should be Mario. Donte is supposed to be a beast like Mario was. Still can be.

Mario in a 4/3 d will excell and give Donte alot easier time to learn and be effective. And still grab the guy from the Giants with finger issues. Front line solved.

I also would trade our 2nd rounder for berry. The top Corner in FA And grab the corner from Florida. Back end Solved.

And then take rest of draft building back line backer core and center.

And let Todd work his magic.

Cause it be scary Mario, Donte, JPP, Telvin, Marks, Berry, and Cyp. All can rush passer.

And make the rest of the Afc South Sweat.

You really expect Mario, JPP and Berry this offseason?

We certainly have the money, and the need to spend it (aside from the obvious need for a guy like Mario.)

I don't expect all three, obviously, but would be surprised if we didn't make a serious run at one of them.
Why not go big like the work put in the stadium or go home. Make um fear the Jags.
On ESPN's NFL Live show today, Brunell was participating in a segment asking who is going to break out as a sophmore player this next year.  He answered, "Dante Fowler, think Von Miller type of ability and wasn't able to show it this year due to the ACL injury before the season...".

Von Miller is a bit of stretch as he isn't quite the athlete that Von is. Von's combine numbers were insane by comparison. As a positive, I do expect Fowler to come back strong being so young. The knee itself should be stronger than before as is typically the case with ACL surgeries, and he's had way more than enough time to fully come back and get himself back up to full speed. With that said, his game is about more than sheer speed. Some guys games are all about their speed wherein an injury like this could slow them down a hair making them mediocre, but Dante is the whole package including size and instincts.

Fowler will be fine. Stop the madness
