Ouch.

Yet, at the same time the Bills are coming off a disappointing 8-8 season under Rex Ryan. Since Marv Levy, the Bills have struggled mightily to find a HC solution.

One thing that seems near certain is both Doug Marrone and Jim Schwartz are going to have to make considerable changes if given the opportunity as NFL HCs again.

But I'm not getting what Marrone did that was so bad, other than leave the Bills because the contract terms to which the Bills agreed enabled him to leave?

He's not good at press conferences? So what?

The team lost a game it shouldn't have? Welcome to the NFL. Every team ends up losing a game it shouldn't.

For all of Rex Ryan's bravado, and the increased talent on the offensive side of the ball, he still couldn't bring Buffalo to even equal Marrone's year 2 record there.

This article asserts the areas the teams struggled in did not correlate to his supposed strengths. But his first year here, sacks allowed were cut by 20. Not all of that was attributable to him, but some were.
In that article, I have confirmation on why I can no longer watch ESPN or stand the farce that is NFL Network

It must have taken a brilliant coach to post a winning record with Kyle Orton as his quarterback, they said over and over and over as if it had been written for them – and probably was by mega-agent Jimmy Sexton, who represents Marrone and many “famous” TV media.

The jockery and mockery that is the media extends to sports.

EDIT:

And if the Jaguars were winning, I really need to keep to ignoring those outlets. Can't be a hypocrite.

It's not that he is so bad, it's just that he hasn't proven much. For whatever reason too, teams didn't want to hire him as a HC either.

Trimming the sacks down by 20 is a bit misleading.

A. We were absolutely dreadful in 2014, like wtflol bad.

B. Bortles was still sacked more than any other QB in 2015

C. Our offense wasn't full of rookies anymore and Robinson was healthy.

D. While Parnell wasn't exactly a super stud, he also helped quite a bit.

Those factors alone should have trimmed it by 20 IMO.

Yeah, I dunno if Marrone deserves any credit for the Oline being "better" some of it was going to happen regardless from Bortles' development, and replacing the bad piece at RT.

Also... run game was still, so-so. And pass pro was still not great.

Coaches coach. Players play.

I'd say "so-so" is giving the run game too much credit.

Not playing the Redskins shaved off 8 at least.
