Quote:Your logic is impeccable.

I've seen many games with a rush to a last-second snap.

I've seen time expire before the ball is snapped.

I have never once heard that this strict and specific interpretation of being still for one second applies.

It's malarkey.
That is pretty astute logic. I think that's why the refs let it go honestly. They're human too. You have to imagine if they were thinking to themselves, "Is he really gonna get that snap off?" And then, "wow he really did get that snap off." Lol

They'd prolly rather the game end by other means than their own.

Actually I could go on about a lot of words getting redlined when they shouldn't be.

I bet you lose sleep over that crap
A missed false start call had no effect on the play that eventually happened.

A missed offensive pass interference on Brandon Marshall had a direct effect on the play that eventually happened.

I offer no sympathy for the Ravens.

Quote:Didn't Bortles slide and get Teddy Bridgewatered on the drive that Myers shanked the 26 yard kick?
There were endless missed calls, but that one was right in front of the official.  When the QB slides feet first, he is tackling himself.  There's no need for a defensive player to touch him.  Instead, the defender took Blake's head off - no call.
The NFL and it's fearless leader can pound sand.

Asterisk.

Looks OK to me.

Wrong. If false start was called, the extra play would not have happened. Obviously you did not click on any of the links in this thread because that is clearly explained in those articles. This thread would not exist if no damage was done to the Ravens when officials failed to call the FS on #76.

In what way does a missed false start call have no effect on the play that eventually happened? If called properly, the game is over before the play.

Remember that time you wanted the Jags to lose to the Broncos? Maybe you should change your sig.....

Why do you mention that now? That has absolutely nothing to do with my post.

HAHA Only if you misspell it every time....

you get no red line with asterisk

it is pronounced as*tur*risk

not as*tur*rik (or riq, rick, ric)

Thanks for the correction. I always thought it was pronounced rick.

Another thing to consider in showing the utter ridiculousness of this story.

Change the hypothetical slightly.

Assume the game is tied as of the last timed play.

The Jaguars, based upon the uncalled illegal procedure and Dumervil's facemask penalty, receive the 15 yards and the untimed down, just like Sunday.

Only this time, Baltimore blocks Myers' FG attempt and runs it back for a TD, and the Ravens win.

Is Baltimore bent out of shape about the non call on the illegal procedure for not being set for one second?

No.

Is the league offering an explanation saying the officials messed up?

No.

Is the media whining about this?

No.

The media may not be "whining" about this, but they obviously are making a big deal out of it. The story was even one of Mort's news reports during ESPN's halftime show Monday night. Our offensive line was zoomed in and #76 can clearly be seen in the wrong position. Ravens fans are going to know him forever as the guy who should have gotten a flag instead of their #58.

Of course, the media would not complain if the Ravens blocked a kick and ran it back. They were the favorites in that game. But the NFL would still admit an error was made. I know this because of what happened in San Diego on a Monday night that nearly cost the Steelers a win: Pittsburgh would have needed the missing 18 seconds if Le'Veon Bell did not get in, but because he did, they won the game anyway.

Of course there are other ways to look at it. You could come up with many scenarios - Jason Myers missing the attempt, offsetting penalties, neither penalty being called, the Jaguars having a timeout, or the Ravens lining up offsides.

Sorry but that is the officials' problem and not ours at all.

Deal with it Balt.

It is our problem if we miss the playoffs just because of one bad call. Of course that does not apply in this case because the non-call was in our favor. but every week MB posters complain about bad calls going against us.

No need to change all of that up. Simply put, what if Myers missed it? Had Myers missed, the Ravens win and nobody is saying a peep about it.
