Im glad they let the players control the outcome of the game honestly. They got the play off, if Elvis doesn't facemask Blake then all of this isn't an issue and wouldn't have been brought up.

Not sure why the fuss...Officials are going to miss minor infringements now and again particularly on a rushed play.


We got screwed last week on video replay calls, that's way worse.


Just don't facemask the qb with time expired!

Of course, the media would not complain if the Ravens blocked a kick and ran it back. They were the favorites in that game. But the NFL would still admit an error was made. I know this because of what happened in San Diego on a Monday night that nearly cost the Steelers a win: Pittsburgh would have needed the missing 18 seconds if Le'Veon Bell did not get in, but because he did, they won the game anyway.


Of course there are other ways to look at it. You could come up with many scenarios - Jason Myers missing the attempt, offsetting penalties, neither penalty being called, the Jaguars having a timeout, or the Ravens lining up offsides.

" zoomed in". Maybe the refs forgot their binoculars? Gimme a break. They should show something in real time not this slowed down zoomed in stuff.

Because it was a clock error, of course. Call the false start and the game is over. We are not just talking about 15 yard gain vs. 5 yard loss here.

 

Elvis Dumervil probably blamed himself for the loss. He is smarter than that. Making it even worse was the fact he turned Blake Bortles around so there was no way officials could miss the penalty.

How officials missed it, I have no idea, because they are in this situation all the time.

The refs didn't blow the whistle for a minor penalty so you commit a major penalty with a personal foul on a play that would have most likely just run out the clock.

 

Baltimore really can only blame themselves.

If the whistle was blown there would be no personal foul. And yes the false start would have run out the clock.

The NFL can shove it to be quite honest...

 

We have been the recipient of MANY bad calls/no-calls and it's about time we got a major decision our way.

Lol. I know the rules, but you misunderstood my point.

 

If you have to slow down and zoom in on the picture to notice that one player was .1 seconds off from being set, you are just searching for any ticky tack violation of any of the hundreds of rules in the book just to say that you should have won the game. In real time, I had no idea that Joeckel wasn't set, and in fact, I applaud the refs for letting the players decide the game. Joeckel being only 99% set offered no advantage to the Jags in that situation-- let the play run its course.

 

Had Joeckel not been halfway set, and it allowed him an advantage in blocking Dumervil just long enough to let Bortles launch a game-winning hail mary TD pass, the Ravens would have an argument.

 

Bottom-line, a missed false start call is NOT the reason the Ravens lost the game. The Ravens are the reason the Ravens lost the game.

This still bothers me because on any given sunday you could look back and find several plays in which the refs shouldve thrown a flag or called a certain play a certain way (and if you get into the what ifs it could change the Jaguars record from 3 wins to 7 maybe)?  Why did the NFL feel the need to say that they messed up on this last play but not other mistakes made during this game.  For example why was the flag picked up when the player was gunning for QB Blake Bortles head (and only by luck did Blake duck in enough time to avoid a concussion type hit helment to helment) on a slide no less ... a slide at the end of his movement when the player dived at him?

I mean I can go back and find several other no flags during that game, but the NFL chose to pick this one to go public with...

This year the Miami Dolphins owner fired the HC partly because he lost to the Jaguars...

I don't think so, I think the Jaguars need to win this game in a big way with so many people watching on Thursday night.. they need to dominate the Titans and prove that they have a chance of winning the AFC South & that the Titans dont...

Thank you. That's what I was trying to say about the zooming in. She's not grasping that concept, it's not really hard. Refs are people too! Haha.

I guess the refs should have done a discount double check before they realized their mic was still on. First down. On to Thursday's game.

Whatever its a win in the win column so nothing they can do it about now, it counts!

If the Ravens intercepted Bortles instead of dropping his errant pass 2 plays early the Ravens would have won. This was our game JW, not theirs. They played dirty all day and had the penatlties to show for it. I don't hear ravens players or even their fans complaining. The NFL by even bringing this up, is starting to make TMD's 'NFL has it out for the Jags' theories look realistic. This shouldn't have been brought up, it had no impact on the actual play (unlike Dumervils facemask), and is a common enough miss (I guarentee there are many missed false starts in every game, but those we just say 'he got away with one there.' Just because the media ran with it doesn't make it valid. Turn off ESPN.
