He's got eight games. I think he's still out next year in less we win the next eight games and finish 10 - 6. Maybe 9 - 7 or 8 - 8 spares him as well. But I highly doubt this team finishes like that this year. He may catch a break and Khan decides to ride out his final year of his four year contract. We'll see....

I remember how excited we all were and following Khan's jet around the country.

Yay!....we got an up and coming coach from the ones the media was saying were the top candidates.

And the media is never wrong....right?

Now after almost three seasons.....I'm pretty let down.

No one else would keep him with his record.

Win out and he might keep his job. I did say might.

If we split or worse with the tacks.....I'd cut him loose before the 'horns game.
These losses are a combination or bad coaching and players

Keeping Gus because..... He leads this team to victory? We would be worse without him? Blakes growth would be stunted?

All are wrong.

Blake seemed to do just fine when we switched OCs this off season. People were worried he would be stunted when Fisch was fired. Gus has zero signature wins, he only has 1 more win than Mularkey this season. Yesterday might not have been on him but a ton of other losses are.

If he doesn't go on some kind of miracle run here, he should be gone.

It's almost as if going from a bad coach to a better coach is actually GOOD for a player's development.

Comparing him to Mularkey right now is a bit unfair since the season is only half over. All I'm saying is that our team has taken a BIG leap forward from last year in many areas. Our offense doesn't even look like the same team. Yes our o-line is still weak is some areas, and our defense still needs work. But our pass rushing (or lack thereof) was supposed to be taken care of this season but that ended in injury. The secondary is being hung out to dry because QB's have all the time in the world to make the throws they need to. A coach can only work within the talent he has. There isn't much talent on our D-Line outside of 1-2 players.

The success isn't being shown in the W's. And I get that. I desperately want our team to win and actually make a run for the playoffs. I think we are SO close to getting to that point and it's because of the patience and the building that this coaching regime has done. Again, Gus has made plenty dumb calls. He is the only one at fault for that. But many of these losses have come as a result of players and their mistakes in big moments.

I think our ball club is so desperate for wins that we are able to toss whomever to the curb with the "hope" that the new person can turn this ship around. And maybe Gus isn't that guy for us. But the progress of this team is undeniable. I think if they can build our defense (D-Line and Secondary) and fill in 1-2 weak spots on our O-Line we would be a seriously good team. Hopefully those areas are sorted out in the off-season.

Promote Olie to interim HC. Pass on Marrone. Hire a new coach this offseason if necessary.

It's pretty obvious to me the Achilles heel of this team is the lack of a pass rush. All those converted 3rd and longs? Yea, anyone can convert those when you have all day to throw it. I don't see why Gus should be fired because Fowler got injured. That's ridiculous.
Quote:I can handle today's loss. The Jets are a better team, we were on the road, it came down to the wire. In the next 5 games we play:

2-6 Ravens

2-6 Titans

2-6 Chargers

2-6 Titans again

4-5 Colts

By my count that's 12-29. What happens if the losses continue? What if we go, say, 1-4 against teams doing just as badly as the Jaguars? Give Gus more time then?
no. i say we will win every remaining game this season and win the afc south.

i believe mistakes/turnovers and lack of passrush are whats killing us and i believe thats gonna stop happening next week

Or he should be fired because he has a historically bad 9-31 record

So Gus is getting the most out of this team? Another coach wouldn't generate more wins? Gus is the one to lead this team to the SB in the future because isn't that the ultimate goal?

I do so that we are improving but if you don't win games, does that really matter? The Vikings are playing like poop and yet they are 6-2. 6-2 with average QB play. The Raiders (who we are often compared to) are playing great football right now. We are losing to below average competition and QB's. I mean Fitzpatrick had 1 hand yesterday and yet he didn't throw a single pick?

Yesterday was not on Gus but a lot of other games are on him. He doesn't seem to game plan very well at all. He is a poor clock manager.

He's 2-6 and needs at least 4 more wins to keep his job with 8 games to go. We will see. I thought the team played really tough yesterday. When it was 14 to 3 I thought we are on our way to blow out city. But the team showed grit. I was impressed by how well we stacked up against them despite them having the obviously better roster.

Fowler getting hurt isn't going to be the reason Gus gets fired.

The team has had close games this year. New England was the only real blowout. Every other game they have been in it in the fourth quarter. But that is not good enough. You have to win games in the NFL.

Raiders and Vikings have 4 and 6 wins.

The friggin 49ers have 3.... Bucs have 3.... Skins have 3. Carr, Teddy, Gabbert/Kaep, Winston and Cousins have more wins than this team..... That is so sad. Mularkey has 1 win.... on the road against the Saints. Has Gus ever had a win like that?

He beat the Browns on the road once...

Why would you do that

I think he won the Senior Bowl once too
I really don't want to get rid of Olsen, Sullivan, or our LB coach. I believe they will all leave if Gus is gone. I am a little skeptical with Gus leaving for this reason only.

What coaches will be available and what coaches would JAX actually have a shot at hiring?

Sean Payton is he opts out? I don't think he would come to Jacksonville.

Is Marrone really a better head coach? Not really the best interview but he does have a winning season. Maybe being a head coach in a small market is exactly what he needs?

Jim Harbaugh isn't leaving Michigan. Not for another 3 years at least. He is in a perfect situation.

Do we bring back Mike Smith to be our head coach? Great DC for us back in the Stroud/Henderson days.

Jim Schwartz? Pass.

Mangini? Pass.

Josh McDaniels? Young up and coming coach. Did he get a bad rap in Denver? I'm sure he would love the offensive weapons we have on offense.

Norv Turner? Pass.

Feel free to add to the list....

You're right, Mularkey steps right in on a terrible team with a rookie QB and wins.  Gus can't hold Mularkey's jock.
