Quote:I dont think they sign anyone unfortunately. Think they are just doing this to light a fire under Myers.
Agree
Former Texans kicker Randy Bullock is one of the kickers coming in to tryout.

Where did you hear that? Or are you just guessing?
Why aren't we bringing in head coaches to tryout this week? :whistling:

Bullock would be an awesome choice for us.  Gets my vote because he has a cannon for a leg (would help us significantly on kickoffs/field position) and proven accuracy.  He won the Lou Groza Award a few years ago for being the #1 kicker in college football.

I agree with free agent. Sry IMO we would have been better off with the colt killer. Scobee IS not old for a kicker.
Scobee is not happening

After looking at the 2014 stats, Bullock finished #6 in the NFL among placekickers making 30 of 35 attempts with one of them blocked.

Still gets my vote.

Bullock is horribad.

Scobee is at the very least clearly on his down slope. We need to secure the position for the future.

I'd hate to toss Myers aside only to see him sign somewhere else and it turns out most of his misses are what we've seen from early during his rookie season. I'm all for seeing what's out there, but let's at least see if Myers can pull it together. A lot went into scouting the kid, and you can't just judge him his college stats as he's been working on his game for years since. He was easily the top prospect among new young kickers this season, so trust your scouting and see if he can improve. If he can't, then I understand it's their only recourse to move on. But it's not yet time to panic.

You might want to check Bullock's stats.

Regarding Myers, if you want a developmental kicker then just stick him on the practice squad and let him develop. I suggested doing this prior to the Scobee trade and now with his recent performances I doubt any other team will be jumping to sign him away. We need someone reliable at this point and Myers is costing us points and potentially games.
I thought it wouldve been cool having Myers on the team during Halloween...

he scares the Jaguar fans at least.

In the 3rd preseason game this year, as in the game that teams play to win, Bullock missed a FG an an extra point. In the first three games this year he missed another FG (40-49 yard range)
, and was 3 of 5 on extra points.

Also remember that Myers did kick a 58-yarder game winner that is still the longest FG made this season in the NFL. Bullock's long over the first three games was 47 yards. Bullock's career long is 55 yards.

Can't wait until Myers joins Seth Marler and Hayden Epstein on the bum kicker scrap heap.
I watch a ton of tinhorn games every year and I am surrounded by texans fans. I highly suggest ignoring stats for fat randy and instead focus on his boneheaded mistakes that cost games. People here think he's hilarious, primarily because of his physique, but no one was sad to see him go. In general, as a principle based on what seems to historically occur, I'm against the signing of ESTABLISHED failed kickers. I just don't see fat randy as a marked improvement over Myers.

Of course I'd love to eat crow if I'm wrong.
As a rookie Bullock was 26 of 35 which at 74.3 percent is just as bad as Myers has been so far.

Last year Bullock did better, but 3 of his misses were under 40 yards including one under 30 yards.

The Jags front office and coach want this Meyers dude to cost them another game so bad it's not even funny. They're playing with fire and being only a game out of 1st place in the division isn't time to train on the job with a scrub kicker with a good power leg and no accuracy. I can see it coming a mile away he botches a chance to win another one looking timid and scared as hell like he does.

He's a kicker. They're replaceable.
