Quote:Strength not the issue. Accuracy either. It was trajectory. It's why the Eagles blocked that 36 yard attempt of his and I'm sorry you didn't see it.

 I did.

It seemed he was striking the ball closer to the middle than he used to and the ball wasn't clearing the defenders at the L.O.S. as it should.
You'd think a professional kicker could correct this, no?

He's got plenty of free time to do just that now.

Just weird to me that we are saying he's in decline or finished when he's still young for a kicker and still has the strength.  He's a seasoned vet who isn't striking it correctly recently.  Seems almost like golf, you correct your stroke and you can rebound.  I don't think he's done.

Quote:No.  They just look at game tape.

I guess those 3 teams that reached out to him didn't look at the game tape... Or the Steelers before trading a 6th round pick.  Stupid NFL teams and stupid market principles.
Quote:I believe they saw his trajectory issues as a bigger problem than you did, and I just happened to "buy" it. You didn't. That's fine.

Well, its been a full 16 games and a scrimmage since the last time he had a kick blocked, so it can't be that big of a deal.

Thirty three isn't old for a kicker.  It's pretty much the prime of their career.  He has 10 productive seasons left in him barring injury or serious physical decline.

Don't argue with FBT, he knows everything. Didn't you know only the Jags do everything right?

FBT is the living, breathing, embodiment of the term Confirmation Bias.

You'd think.  Yes.  Did he?  Would they have moved him if he did?

I know, it's just strange to me.  I guess it's the Tiger Woods affect.  Maybe he cheated on his gf/wife?

Yes, they probably would have moved him anyways.  Cheaper, younger, uninjured, and the perceived equal was on the team.

16 straight games and 1 scrimmage (30+ field goal attempts and however many xps) seems to point to an indication that either it wasn't as big of a deal as it's been made out to be or he corrected whatever issue.

LOL. Who knows. It caught me by surprise when he started having blocks and then a few misses  - and it also surprised me they didn't keep him around.

Whether the trajectory was the key issue would be interesting to find out.
Has anyone considered the possibility that Scobee doesn't want to come back here and perhaps that's the reason he was not brought in ?

Wow!  3 teams "reached out to him"!  Are you his agent?  Sure seems like it the way you're man crushing on the guy right now.

Bottom line: he's not in the league.  There's a good reason for that, otherwise he'd be on a roster.  You think he's potential HOF material obviously.  Unfortunately, teams needing a kicker haven't embraced this odd enthusiasm of yours, including the one that knows him best.  You're not even remotely curious why that might be?

Welcome back hyperbole.  I've missed you so.

I'm not really that curious since the report stated that Scobee turned down the 3 teams because he wanted his quad injury to heal, which not only makes sense, but is the smart thing to do.  You are so blinded by your confirmation bias that you are suggesting a kicker with an injury that hasn't been immediately signed within 3 weeks of getting cut is "out of the league."  So that's your "good reason" for him being "out of the league."

If you are so confident that he's done in the NFL, name your stakes.

Calm down fat boy.

Where did I say he was done?  I said he's out of the league.  You do recognize the difference, right Mrs. Scobee?

My position all along has been that he's in decline.  You argue he's not, and that from your perspective, he's at the pinnacle of his career.  He's just got this pesky quad injury preventing him from proving himself.  The quad injury wasn't there last year when he was booting the ball into the backside of his line, struggling to get any sort of elevation on his kicks.

I know you have this dream that he'd come back to the Jags and return to greatness.  I don't see it happening.  He'll get another shot in the league, but his days of being a reliable kicker who is best in clutch situations are behind him.

Not sure what I need to calm down about.  The only person getting worked up here is Scobee's #1 fan.
Hopefully we draft a long term replacement in April. Coughlin played musical kickers in 2002 after Mike Hollis left. Hayden Epstein, Tim Seder, Richie Cunningham LOL. And then the immortal Seth Marler in 2003. The problem wasn't fixed until we got Scobee and didn't have to worry about the position for 10 years.

This year we either stick with Myers, or play scrap heap roulette like in 02. Either way I hope we are able to find another reliable kicker like Hollis or Scobee sooner rather than later.
