Pete doesn't know. It is his opinion. The same opinion that made a radio channel not renew him.

 

I like what Pete has to say a lot of the time, but he is dead wrong on this one.

If this was year 2, and Gus Bradley was 4-7, most Jaguars fans would be pretty happy with that.  Except its year 3, and we're 1-5, coming off a 3-13 year 2.  So no, the situations aren't very similar.

 

I don't necessarily have an issue with Gus staying until the end of the season.  We aren't going anywhere with either Gus or Marrone, so you might as well give Gus his full 3rd season.  And like it was stated before, it only looks good for future head coaches that are interviewed that Gus was given a full 3 seasons and not booted midseason.  Either way, its no big deal really.

That's because Gus is 1-5 in year 3 and, although technically can still get to 4-7 this year, we already know he never will get to 4-7.

The obvious empty seats on the first cool day last Sunday will open Khans eyes. Even more empty ones on the nationally televised one will even more...but...as someone mentioned..what will it do? Win an extra game? Lose next week and theyre playing for the next draft pick.

Maybe, just maybe a message could be sent to some of the slackers like Clemons. Cut his [BLEEP] and tell the team their jobs are on the line as well.

 

Maybe the Marrone hiring was not incidental, but insurance in case the team imploded...again. 

 

Then we can also have a Del Rio / Mel Tucker scenerio. That worked out so well.

 

The easy part is starting Fire Gus discussions. Tough part is..then what?  Marrone has character questions; is he the answer? Would he just be in for this year? Would he stick around if he wasnt around for the next year? Who would be available next year? Would they take the job? Are Caldwell and Khan even having that discussion?

Oh, yes they were.   I was there.   The whole town was calling for a change.   All the radio talkers and everyone else.

That's the problem.   If you tear this roster down to nothing and basically start from scratch, like we did, and then you give the head coach less than 3 years to turn things around, how much time to you give the next guy?   2 years?    Who's going to sign on for that, knowing the track record we have of firing guys?   Mularkey, 1 year?   Bradley, 2 years and 6 games?   What are we, the Oakland Raiders? 

 

Personally, I think Bradley is done and will not be here next year.   But I can see some benefit to giving him to the end of the year.  

Keeping him does nothing.

if we fire bradley and another hc takes over and we start winning... well never know if that would have happened without firing him.

I love Pete and often agree with him. I believe he has a spot for the Jags in his heart. Remember him from our days up at the Yates YMCA, but Pete, if you're reading this, you're dead wrong, buddy. But you have the right to your wrong opinion.

I personally think it depends on how Caldwell feels about Marrone.  If he thinks it's an improvement, then by all means go for it.  If not, then Prisco is right where it doesn't accomplish much.

We aren't winning another game. 1-15.

This was my immediate thought, too. I don't recall anyone calling for Coughlin's head in 1996.
