Florida got hammered last couple years by some Nole fans in here for some empty seats. Today against Louisville there are some huge pockets of empties in Tallahassee. What gives?
Obviously they are not the same Seminoles fans who saw a lot of empty seats at BHG Stadium. Or they might already forget about the empty seats in Gainesville.

I saw a lot of empty end zone seats at Indiana two weeks ago and wondered why Hoosiers fans don't want to come to an Ohio State game. But at least the home team was not ranked in that one.

FSU always has empty seats unless its a really big game.  They just dont have the same number of fans.  Plus Tally is a pain to get to.

God, you sound like a whiney baby.

We always have a late arriving crowd for noon games. And those pockets of empty seats are in the visitors section.

I can't stand when people say that Tallahassee is a pain to get to. It's not like you're driving through crazy city traffic. It's clear roads and the commute from the larger cities like Tampa takes not much longer than it does to get to Gainesville.

I dont know, if you're coming from Orlando or Tampa it's an extra two hours.  That turns an easy day trip to Gainesville into a really really long day to FSU.  As far as "big cities" go, I wouldnt day trip to Tally from anywhere other than Jax.  And once you have to spend the night, I think it turns into a much bigger commitment.

I've used that argument before but people laughed and said it was a lame excuse.

Another reason is hotels in and around Tallahassee Jack up their rates on game weekends and make it a two night minimum stay.
Reason gator fans were "hammered" by Nole fans for empty stadium is because you guys hammered us for years about the attendance. It was simply a foot in your mouth moment for the gator fan base.

I travel to a lot of college football games each year.  I usually do 6 or 7 games a season.  So I'm not one afraid to get in the car and road trip for some football.  But a 4 hour drive followed by a bunch of day drinking, a 4 hour game, and then another 4 hour drive home sounds pretty awful.  Lame excuse my ... butt.... (not sure if bchbunnie will ban me again).

Lots of college towns do that with hotels.  I know Clemson does.  Oxford does.  A lot of hotels in Athens are the same way.  Not sure if Gainesville does.  Again, when I lived in Jax I always just day tripped there since it's so easy.  I wouldnt be surprised if the hotels in Gainesville cant afford to do that.  If you're a person that lives in Jax or Orlando or Tampa, if the hotels are forcing you to spend two nights worth, why would you ever do that if you are at most a 2 hour drive away.

That's a stupid thing to do. Guess they would rather have an empty room than fill it for one night.

The thing is they usually dont have many empty rooms.  A lot of college towns that have that 2 night policy arent really all that close to anything.  So they know a lot of fans will have to get a hotel for at least one night.  And then knowing that they gouge them for the 2nd night.

Not whining, simply pointing out what was pointed out the last few years. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you don't like it, simply ignore it.

So kind of like FSU fans the last few years then? Got it.

Team not winning on the field so you come out with this garbage. Take your weak sauce and go home with your gator tail between your legs.

Where is the foot in your mouth moment for fsu fans?
Another great Trav thread

First game I noticed this, sue me. News Flash, I made this post at 12:57 yesterday....

When one hammers another for the same thing they're doing, that's foot in mouth.
I live 45 minutes away from BHG Stadium.

It takes me 4 hours to get to Doak.

I left at 7:30 am yesterday and was still late for the kickoff.

And as big John already said most of the empty seats were in the visiting section.
