Quote:But see that's the thing...it's not just Gus. Dave has been terrible in FA and he isn't that great in the draft.
We have a undrafted WR starting and on pace for 1,000 yards. Dave is not the problem

It wasnt anywhere near as bad as this. Lags sounded like he wanted to punch Dempsey if he said anything else.

Yea lets ignore all his other moves. How many impact players are in that defense? I'll wait.

We should just ignore injuries because they're not relevant to the discussion, right?

Quote:He said they shouldn't be fired during the year and if the season plays out like Sunday did then he wouldn't have a problem if Gus was fired. I also don't think he mentioned that Dave has done a bad job just the team in general and if that continues then changes will be made.I'll just say, i must be stupid, since it seems the "lynch mob" is the Einstein majority here. With that out of the way, If this is what was said then how on earth can anyone argue that. I've been watching the NFL for years and years and have seen teams look worse than we have this year and turn the year around to an average to above average season. If Gus can muster a decent record with this team playing up to ITS capabilities then will everyone here still want Gus fired.
I would like a response from the "fire Gus" crowd. In what i've been watching with the mistakes, if the players actually play football the way the coaches before they met Gus taught them, then we would actually be a decent competitor. If this same team plays decent and wins the rest of the year with no major "GUS" changes since the only reason we are losing late is because of player errors then shouldn't the coach still be fired based on the "fire Gus" logic.
If Grant doesn't fumble, on a play Olson called that i even knew would be blew up, based on the exact same play being ran earlier with him that hasn't been ran in like "ever", we are tied in that game. If Myers doesn't miss the FG, then we win. I know if and's and but's arent a "keep the coach" powerpoint presentation but what would be the problem then if that happens because i don't think Gus can reteach grown men fundamentals that they show in practice.
It's like the Gabbert argument. He's awesome in practice but when the lights come on he panics. If these players aren't performing on game day, and continuously make fundamental errors that Gus didn't introduce them too when they first started playing football then what should he do to make players play better. If he benches them and the backups come in and do worse, then is it still his fault because he is trying to work with what he has and coach players to play. I mean, every team has setbacks but what would the packers be without Rodgers, or the Partriots without brady, or the....you get the point; but should they fire their coaches if the team starts losing once their star player gets hurt because based on what i've been reading thats exactly what everyone of you "Fire Gus" people would agree with and do. That means no Mike M in GB, no Bill B. in NE, Tomlin would've been out the door once Vick got the start and they lost ala the Henne syndrome, etc.
its year 3 and its game 6; and we still have 10 games left afterwards. If this team plays the way its played in spurts already this year and puts it together on Sunday, i see no reason why we shouldn't get 6 to 7 wins still if we beat Houston especially this week. If that happens then i guess the coaching will still be the problem and not the players. I see a team that can win and if Gus can push them to make it come together on Sundays and not Offense this week, Defense next week, ST Week 3, and so on then we can win some of these Losses that "fans" have already marked on their NFL calendars. I dont see any teams on our schedule left that cannot be beaten if we play consistent in all 3 phases and if that happens and we pull out wins and start gaining momentum and a winning environment, Please don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Everyone sees negativity, some of us just choose to focus on the positives in life and not yell at the MB because that's where you feel special. Once game 17 is played and i look at the season in review, if we don't look better, with wins, than we are now then i'll happily watch Gus escorted out but if we do, i'll gladly remember why real NFL fans ignore the agenda and everything's always wrong when we lose crowd. Pick any team, there's 32, because trust me you'll always feel right no matter who you root for and complain about.

Quote:Using the Overall record is totally unfair... it's a rebuild! Year 3 is what matters!
8-29 (21.6%) isn't a fair statistic to use.
Stick w/ year 3!
oh...
1-4... (20%)....
Nevermind.
Dude that's just harsh...

I see your point now, Dave keeps getting defensive players he knows are going to get hurt. " I know Cooper's on the board, but hopefully if we take Fowler he will blow out his knee the first practice". Am I close?

It's amazing that you...
King of message boards still cant figure out that teams in the nfl have injuries every year. Jags are not the exception.
At some point this team has to overcome that.

I'm listening to Jeff and Mike's throw down right now and its really entertaining!

Quote:It's amazing that you...It's also amazing that alof of these injuries are on teams that have multiple above average players helping them stay afloat and have been for 1 to 2 years or more on their respected teams. What's mindblowing is that alot of these teams probably don't have their star QB out and/or their superstar defensive players or offensive weapons sidelined as well. Pick a team, any team, and name these key injuries that are on all of these teams like the Jags who are winning.

I usually just wait for 10:00 am and push record on my boombox. After an hour, I have to take the tape out, flip it over and record on the other side.

They stop bickering in the second hour unfortunately.

Gus didn't travel into the future and lose next Sunday's game. Not yet anyway.
Our "superstar" defensive players? You mean Poz? The dude that took a pay cut this year? This board was ready to crucify him months ago, now he's a superstar?
Clearly you weren't talking about Dante Fowler Jr., who has yet to take even a preseason snap in the pros. Or were u talking about Marquise Lee? Because we've never had to deal with him being injured before.
The Indiapolis Colts. They were/ are missing Andrew Luck. Are you telling me, heading into that game, you would rather have Andrew Luck out than Poz,Lee, and Thomas?
The sad thing is, you really shouldn't NEED to be 100% healthy to beat the Bucs.
