Quote:how do you teach a guy to catch a ball?
Teaching somebody to become a better catcher is like teaching Shaq to become a 80%+ free throw shooter.  It just doesn't happen.
Quote:Week one. If you're premature about these things in your real life with your reactions, I'm laying odds you've probably had trouble keeping a relationship going.

That's right go ahead and avoid and deflect and result to immature tactics. You don't know me personally so I suggest you stop making false assumptions. We're talking football here if you don't like my opinion than ignore me. But if you would like me to start digging up personal info on you to throw it against the wall here I will. Got it Tim. By the way you couldn't be more wrong in many ways.
Caldwell doesnt draft players that can catch and Jerry doesn't Teach an aggressive play style because our WRs still don't run crisp routes or display solid catching.

Maybe you should take your own advice, twitchy.

Maybe you should take a break. Your obviously not focused on the discussion at hand. You still didn't address my reply to you and it's clear the reason is you have no answer and know that I'm right. Carry on loser.

I answered your question the best way possible.  It's WEEK ONE.  I know you're struggling to grasp the point.

You demand the team have an identity right out of the box because they told you what they wanted to do leading up to the season.  Identities aren't built before the team takes a snap in a meaningful game, and it sure as heck isn't established in week one, but hey, I'm the loser.  You're the rational one here, right twitchy?  Try not to dislocate that knee joint.

Jugs machine 2 hours a day until ripe.

Don't tell me that can't help. It worked for DD.

When Sullivan got hired, I was living in a different city that had an NFL team.  The WR coach for that team lived in my neighborhood.  We made friends while grilling out at the community pool and we'd talk football.  I asked him about the Sullivan hire, and he said we could do better.  When asked why, he said he thought he was too old, and too oldschool when it came to coaching, and mentioned that there were better coaches available.  I thought about posting that here after he told me that, but I felt it would be a violation of his trust.  Now that it's been a few years and I'm back in Jax, I don't think it could be traced back to him, so I figured why not share it with you all.  Granted, that is one person's opinion, but he is more qualified than most of us.

Quote:It is funny how fickle Jag fans can be.  When Fisch was fired, some here were actually suggesting they should just promote Sullivan to be the OC because he was such a legendary position coach.  Now it's his fault that what he's teaching on the practice field isn't sinking in with the players.

Fickle? Coaches can lose their skills as they age, just like players, especially when they're still coaching at the age where most people have retired. Sullivan is 71. He was a great WR coach in 2012. Now it looks like he isn't. Bobby Bowden was a great coach until he wasn't.

I hope age-related decline isn't the cause, but none of our WRs have shown any improvement this year, including several who didn't make the cut to 53. Robinson even regressed.

In fairness I saw a lot of dropped passes by top WRs in other games yesterday. Maybe it's the gloves that have changed. But that doesn't explain difficulty in getting open vs. CBs who are not exactly top of the line.

Haha ok tubby. If you can't take the coaches word for it then I guess we should never take anything they say serious ever. They flat out crapped the bed and lied about what this team would be offensively.

It's funny how much offense you take to how the team played in ONE GAME.  They lied?  Okay, drama queen.  How dare they disrespect you like that, not coming out fully formed in WEEK ONE.  Seriously, if you take one game so personally, you're going to be on the verge of hurting yourself by week 4.  Seek help.

Week 1 feels a whole lot like the previous 32 weeks of football....

Word! Hey, we agree on this atleast

It's still just week 1 with a new offensive system, all new position coaches, and a few new parts in the mix.  I seriously doubt what we saw yesterday is the finished product, especially when we're missing our deep threat receiver and our big play TE.

This game was so winnable even without Lee and Thomas.

Even after the Poz interception, we couldn't turn the tide. I'm not saying fire the man but when I watch the previous 32 games look like this game, it shows that most likely, nothing has changed.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

Your a blind squirrel in denial. I feel bad for you a bit because you just hang on to every ounce of crap they tell you. It's old school sad. The world moves fast bud were the only team to score less than 10. We're stuck in the stone ages and you refuse to believe it. Your choice.
Quote:WR coach that is supposed to be so good. Really? What has he done with all the guys he has had since 2012. I see every year players running wrong routes. Dropping balls left and right. These are high draft picks who did not have this problem in college.

Why does he always get no heat?

When your #1 WR comes from Penn State, yes the same school that produced top WR talent in the NFL what do you expect --- Link to the top 6  below -> bobby engram, oj mcduffie, joe jurevicius, bryant johnson, michael timpson & kenny jackson  :woot:

I agree with your point that this game was winnable.  It certainly was disappointing.

Where I disagree is that this game certainly didn't look like the first game last season, nor the second.

I'm hanging on to every ounce they tell me?  I'm the one who is sitting here stomping his feet like a spoiled brat who didn't get his way as he howls to the board about how he's been lied to by the coaches?  You haven't seen me saying anything of the sort.  I'm not happy with the way the team played yesterday, but evidently I have something you lack; perspective.

Unlike you, I don't really care what the coach says in press conferences.  Meanwhile, you're getting yourself worked up into a frothy lather over it as if Gus is lying, and not only that, he's lying directly to you when he speaks in generalities and doesn't throw coaches or players under the bus.  I don't care what he or any coach says in a presser.  You hang on every word and take it personally when you don't see instantly what he said in a press conference somewhere along the way.

I'm not the one who is stuck, twitchy.
