I knew you would come in here insulting from the minute the thread was started. Thanks for not disappointing. Why don't you take that midol and place it in one of your fat rolls and let it dissolve till your pelvic aches subside. Chase it with a tub of lard just how you like it. Don't forget the gravy fat boy.

I'm not the one here whining like mommy and daddy took your binky away.  You've done everything you possibly can to be offended by the perceived notion that Gus has somehow lied directly to you.  It's a pretty pathetic to take things like that personally, but who am I to judge you and your insecurities?

It's funny how you're telling me I'm insulting you.  You're really taking the high ground there, twitchy.  Looking pretty pathetic right about now with the insults and the whining.
Quote:I like Sullivan but to be fair, Keenan is a really good coach up here in Maryland.

I went to UMD and watch every game. If there is one thing this school does well, it's have good receivers who have a QB who can't get them the rock.
This isn't about Keenan.  He is a very good position coach.  The hype around Sullivan wasn't manufactured by the Jaguars PR machine.  This is a guy who has been coaching this position at a high level for a long time.  His reputation league-wide goes well beyond one player.

If you went to the majority of teams in the league with Jerry Sullivan and Keenan McCardell as coaching options, the bulk would take Sullivan.  That's not saying anything negative about Keenan.  There's just more of an NFL track record to look at with Sullivan.  Keenan's time will come I'm sure.

Just following your lead fat boy. You can dish it but can't take it. by the way tell your mom I said hi tell her I have to buy some more flower to find that special area. By the way I never said I was personally lied to you dumb ape. I said they lied to us about what they were going to be on offense. Basically they crapped on the entire fan base.

Not exactly true.

Quote:When Sullivan got hired, I was living in a different city that had an NFL team.  The WR coach for that team lived in my neighborhood.  We made friends while grilling out at the community pool and we'd talk football.  I asked him about the Sullivan hire, and he said we could do better.  When asked why, he said he thought he was too old, and too oldschool when it came to coaching, and mentioned that there were better coaches available.  I thought about posting that here after he told me that, but I felt it would be a violation of his trust.  Now that it's been a few years and I'm back in Jax, I don't think it could be traced back to him, so I figured why not share it with you all.  Granted, that is one person's opinion, but he is more qualified than most of us.

I'm almost sorry I posted this nugget in this thread.  I've been holding onto it for years.
Looking back at the game. Everyone is still body catching, just like all the WRs before Robinson, Hurns, etc. Is that what Sullivan is teaching them?

I havent posted on this yet, and I just have one thing to add. I'm not buying the sullivan kool aid. He has seen some talent come and go, and yet drops continue to be an issue.

Everyonr says he's one of the most respected wr coaches out there.... But those same people are trying to sell us on greg olson being one of the nfl's brightest offensive minds.

I dont know what to believe, I just know that the results aren't matching the hype

Meh. People say Tom Coughlin is too old school as well. He has a super bowl ring and a HoF jacket waiting on him.

I think it's possible that jerry is so liked and respected that no one has the nuts to let him go. Problem is that good ol Gus begged him to stay which was a mistake. Jerry hasn't developed not one mainstay wr since he's been here. He's the common denominator. But at the same token guys have to catch the easy onees.

We can't compare a 2 time Super Bowl wining coach to a mere position coach. Come on.

Why not? We're only comparing coaching styles. Nothing more.

Oh really. What are the similarities and differences between the two?

FBT, called me a waste of Bandwith when I questioned the improvement of the team earlier in the year. I stated that I didn't see any significant signs of change and we would be picking in the top 5 again this year. Some fans just hate when negative things are said about the team.

How dare you question the team.  They have the best GM, the best coach, the best players, and the best play calling.  The only problem is that we are too stupid to be able to see that.  It's something we, as fans, aren't sophisticated enough to see.

It's because they're actually very sad and depressed inside. They want you to be wrong so badly that they take it out on the people talking about it. Its the only way they can cope with sucking. So they'll tell you you're wrong about it all and that every player is perfect on this roster.

Very true

The problem with those type of fans is that in reality they still believe what they're being told. They want to keep you waiting. I personally snapped out of this mental state of kidnapping years ago. I started questioning some issues with just some of my jag friends. But only became vocal about the negatives on the board about a year ago. I had enough of people not wanting to see what was happening. It's sad because as a fan base we should all be able to recognize that real progress is not being made.

It's funny because the one thing fbt likes to make fun of me for regarding being lied to he's guilty of too. But whatever. Let's see some real progress on Sunday.

We all start out brainwashed but some fans manage to snap out of it. Anyways, lets go Jags!!!!

Thanks for the dime store analysis, twitchy.

The thing is, "those type of fans" you're referring to take what the coaching staff says with a grain of salt.  You're the one who pranced around here like a jilted school girl because Gus and Dave lied to you personally.  That tells me you buy into their words wholeheartedly.  Otherwise you wouldn't be offended when there isn't immediate indication that what they said is fact.  Of course, some of that disappointment comes from the fact that you've got that affliction.

Premature evaluation following week one.

This is funny stuff. Sad and depressed inside?  Yeah, okay.  That's why we're the ones leaving a trail of tears on the board instead of preaching patience.

Oh, wait....

It's not about wanting anyone to be wrong.  It's about thinking beyond the here and now and recognizing that this is a process, and the team is going to improve over their performance in WEEK ONE.  Why is it so difficult for some of you to understand this?

I haven't seen anyone on my side of this discussion refer to every player being perfect.  This is the typical hyperbole that is spewed by the premi crowd who use Madden as their guide for how changes should happen immediately.  This is the real world where progress takes time and patience.

I can picture 40 years from now, FBT in a nursing home room. The Jags have picked in the top 5 50 years in a row and FBT doesn't eat or go join the other seniors in activities. He just sits in his rocking chair all day repeating phrases like "trust the process" "Gus knows what he is doing" "in gene we trust" "get better everyday and compete" "you bibbers need to be patient"
